I am in Law Enforcement and take that to offense for you guys laughing. The only reason is because almost everyone who has pets treats them like one of them family, when one dies it hurts. Not only that but it was a fellow Officer and anytime a officer dies it hits home, even though the circumstances probably would not have happened to a regular officer, but its not something to laugh about. Thats like saying a Special Operations officer that searches for weapons gets killed by one of the weapons he finds is funny, I dont think so.

yeah dude that blows. poor dog died doing it's damn job. If I owned the dog damn I'd be devastated. Seriously I'd rather lose my car than my dog. A car can be replaced, a member of the family can't.

A co-worker's husband was with the local PD's K-9 unit, and he was absolutely devastated when his dog died. He not only lost a pet, but a living creature that he worked with nearly *every day* for (IIRC) almost 10 years.

He lost a pet and a partner. Very sad.

In the military if your dog dies then so do you. your position that is! if your dog dies then you get put on gate gaurd. your suppossed to know your dog and his limits. if u have a drug sniffing dog and the moment your dog does not respond to a command after he found a pile or stash of drugs. back him off and observe his condition. i think its the handlers fault because the dog actually ingested the drugs. and i also saw that family guy episode that was so classic!

My last word on this subject will be that anyone who has ever owned and loved a pet should *not* find this even remotely funny. I can't help but think of my pet bird who died suddenly several months ago...I only had her for two years and I still can't really face it.

To this day, I'd give everything I own to have my pet back, alive and well.

Does that mean I don't have to mourn the death of stupid people too?

If it were my dog, I would be devasted. On the other hand, I would be the first person to crack jokes about it, humor is how I handle things like this.

and people claim that doing drugs is a victimless crime. why do humans require intoxication? sad.
