I am looking for an ecu for my s2 rb25 but they seem to be hard to find, thinking about the z32 ecu swap instead. Has anyone had any experience with this? Not really wanting to go full standalone since my motor is bone stock minus greddy intake and exhaust. How hard is it to convert the z32 ecu and will my car run alright on it?

Many people actually do that conversion so they can run Nistune software. I am pretty sure it is only a matter of repinning some of the wires at the ECU plug. Search for Z32 ECU and you should find some good info.

I have an S2 ECU on my shelf. Seems a bit silly since I haven't needed it in years and years. Send me a PM, make sure your pm's are enabled.

I have a S1 with a nistune, and i still have the igniter. Also the Z32 used an igniter, so you will need to purchase an igniter to swap from S2 to Z32 ecu.

So if using a z32 i would neef to basically convert my engine to s1 coilpacks, ecu, and ignitor?

Really dont wanna do all that at the moment... Just want a stock
Ecu so i can get it up and running. I plan on going standalone once i do my turbo upgrade, and doing it all the right way.

Are you sure he needs an ignitor? The s2 does not have an internal ignitor just like the s1. The ignitor for the s2 is in the coilpack. When I ran a z32 Nistune in my car I did not need an ignitor and there was no repinning of the ecu. I think I had to make a jumper wire for the o2 and knock sensors and that was it.

You dont need an ignitor at all. There is no repinning of the harness needed either. Im running a 16bit 1994 n/a z32 computer that I modified internally and I run a nistune board and it works great. S2 has built in ignitors in the coils so you can run them with no problems. I can modify the ecu for you if you want. Email me at [email protected]. You can run a stock z32 twin turbo ecu no problem without nistune. I even ran a n/a 8bit for a while with a z1 stage 3 chip just fine. The n/a computers are cheaper and have the single stage fuel pump controller. You will need to run the z32 n62 maf though.

Dustin when you run the stock z32TT ecu on a S1 RB25 it's still necessary to bridge a few wires internally, right? I'm thinking knock sensors and o2 sensors for sure.

That is pretty much all I had to do internally besides attaching the motherboard.
