I did steal this from another site, but need some stuff cleared up and only trust my fellow NICO homies.

Supposedley is FWD w/ a 4WD Option.

They're starting out with a boring 160-170ps MR20DE. They will eventually be making a 4WD version with a turbocharged motor around 270-280ps according to the article.

Please help.....

I'd buy it if it was AWD. Well, I'd buy the engine and drive train and swap it into my car now.

What's up with Nissan's styling choices as of late? They seem to be heading away from mean and agressive and more towards chunky/pokey. Definitely looks a little Toyota-ish. Although, now that I'm thinking about this, it also seems to resemble Peugeot/Citroen euro kinda design a little. And with AWD, are they thinking about maybe entering The WRC or some other form of rallying? That would be so sweet if that was the case! Or maybe I'm just reading too far into things.

I think its just a fake. Unless you hear something straight from Nissan it probly isnt true. I think people just made that to piss 240/rwd people off, lol.

Ugh, vertical headlights.

I swear, if they make it look anything whatsoever like the G35/Z I'm going to fly to Nissan HQ and personally take a dump on their front steps.

I *HATE* it when companies do an entire line of vehicles that look like each other, but in different sizes (a la Mercedes & BMW). It's the dumbest thing ever.

Someone needs to tell them that making attractive automobiles is more important than brand identity.

On a side note, I can't imagine they'll make a FWD Silvia. People in Japan would go berserk.

i wouldn't. who the hell wants an awd 240. the 240 was made to drift and handle, and that can only exist on a rwd platform.

I want an AWD 240! The guy in gen chat with the AWD s14 project wants an AWD 240! The kid who bought that ebay RB26 AWD project car wants an AWD 240... Did you forget the Skyline GT-R is AWD?

I agree with FWD being a dumb move on the part of Nissan, but if they offered RWD with an AWD option similar to how they did the previous skylines, I think most people would be happy. Then again, most of the WRC cars' production counterparts are FWD with some having the AWD option. Granted the FWD versions suck, but the AWD versions (think EVO and STi) could school most cars any day. I've seen enough drift videos to know that AWD can drift and handle as well if not better than RWD.

Don't get me wrong, I love RWD, but I don't live in a world of perfect roads and perfect weather. I would love to hit a gravel or dirt back road and throw my car through some corners. I would love to take my car out and put it through it's paces when it snows and be in total control. Do you get what I'm saying?

"(think EVO and STi)"

those are the two cars that got nissan thinking about what to do. f that.

rwd > awd

i get what you're saying, but not to offer a rwd version and to make the fwd platform standard is absurd.

agreed. keep rwd with the awd option and I wouldn't care much unless the AWD drivers get cocky and bash the RWD 240s.

Either way, if it is FWD or AWD it should not be an S chasis, it should not be called a silvia, and it should not be associated with them.

From the different "rumors" I've read, it seems like they are talking FWD, but won't do it. AWD will be saved for the upper line models (S16 doesn't fit that) and they'll most liekly not bring the S16 as it's known (or will be) to the US.

Nissan's really creating a seperation in it's North American Brand Identity, Nissans (sans trucks & the 350Z) are all FWD, and the Infinitis are all RWD with AWD options.

Would most Nissan enthusiasts be happy to see the S15/16 in the US, yes, will they ever do it, highly unlikely. But it's fun to talk about .

I don't think nissan would get anything out of a FWD S16. They already have the maxima, altima and sentra, so they really need a 4th one? They're arleady making the altima into the maxima, so maybe the s16 is the sentra replacement. It also seems odd to give it 280ps. That's just under the 350z, with it being a lighter weight car, it would probably keep up with it. Also, unless nissan makes a new awd system, I'm pretty sure all their awd platforms mount the engine the same way the would for rwd, which is why they give the rwd and awd options. evos and stuff like that, all mount it like it's a fwd engine for their awd, that's why they offer those options. Plus I don't know the truck line at all, but in the skylines they mount it for rwd. Either way, it'll probably be 2 or 3 years before the s16 comes out.

that drawing has been out for a while and its starting to grow on me...the first pic posted in this thread just sux but its also just a drawing. i think it will have a little bit of sentra and z mixed in when it finally comes out.

as for the drive layout and all that good stuff...well we dont even know whats in the new GTR yet so why get the blood pressure over it. if its FWD then even less people will buy it. i dont think they will do that. i can see AWD but i dont think FWD is an option

the amout of success nissan has had with the S cars is too great for them to piss it all away on a FWD platform.

I think I read somewhere that the most popular tuner car in japan was the 180SX. Affordable, very tuneable and handling like glue.

That's too much history, and money that can be made to just throw it away.

No matter what the car looke like, if they decide to build it, the main points for it will be engine choice (s) and RWD/AWD.

That's cause of the Nissan-Renault alliance. Renault now seems to have quite some influence over Nissan's new designs. (i.e. the primera and their new minivan designs.) The MR20DE motor is also a joint design.

I don't think it's a goin anywhere good.

as far as im concerned, this could be real, fake, or whatever. it doesn't mean anything whichever way it goes.

nissan isn't nissan anymore. its a french guy holding a japanese flag. where's the interest in that?!

ill be keeping my s13 until it peels over, then ill overpay to find an even cleaner one that's hidden away somewhere years and years from now. NOTHING will ever come close to it in terms of style, drivabilty, platform, aftermarket support and overall likability as the s13. nissan can go ^^^^ themselves up the @ss. they sold out to the curvy unappealing design, and im not buying into that underpowered overated cheap p.o.s.

French guys hold white flags.

Although I don't hold your sentiment quite to the same degree, I agree with you.
