I searched and found nothing that says if this is possible. Was just wondering if anyone had experienced swapping out the stock SR20det S14 transmission with an SR20det S15 6spd transmission. The reason I bring this up is because my S14 transmission appears to be having serious issues; vibration, noises, feels like its dragging every gear and slowing the car down, makes this weird howling noise when I put it in gear and have the clutch pedal pushed in (I have no doubt its transmission related).

It's possible. One thing S15 owners sometimes do is swap an S14 or S13 trans on. The problem I could forsee with the 6 speed is cost. You'll need a new driveshaft and you'll need the S15 rear end carrier since it has the speed sensor in it.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with getting one unless you got a screaming deal. It would be easier to take a KA trans, slap your SR bellhousing on the KA gearbox and go with that.

As far as the howling noise with the clutch pushed in. Sounds like throwout bearing.

I was afraid of that, and I asked those fuggers at the shop if they did the throwout bearing when they did the swap, first they looked scared, then they were all "yeah, we did it". I'm thinking not.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping its not the transmission. I just don't see it going "bad" since it has so few miles on it and its a manual transmission; those are so simple in consruction and design.

If the throwout goes completely, what will happen?
