Lots of money :D

Really, the transmission bolt pattern is probably the same, but I have only seen one s15 transmission for sale in my life, and it was $1800US and located in australia. The S15 transmission also doesnt have a speed sensor on it, because its located in the differential on the S15. If you got the whole transmission, driveshaft and rear-end package it might be worth it if you can get it cheap.

from what i hear the s15 trans is known to be weaker then the 5speed trans found in the s13 and s14. Many people in japan put 5 speed tranys in their s15's. Keep that in mind.

I believe the thing about the 6spd being weaker turned out to be untrue

6speeds sell all day long on auctions.yahoo.co.jp for under 500$ i've seen brand new ones for 600$ i've been thinking of buying a spare to get cryoed if/when i get a bigger turbo.i think it can probably be modified to accept an s13/s14 speed sensor.would definitly require opening it up though.also you'll need the driveshaft and possibly the diff.or a custom driveshaft.

Unless you have someone in japan to pick it up for you and ship it over here, you probably wont get it because most auction sellers in japan refuse to sell internationally. Shipping aint cheap across the big pond either. I've dreamed many a-time about the cheap parts on ebay of japan, i've since given up.

thats what i used to think too. but there are ways to get it done and you don't need to "know" someone.shipping is high but the price difference and strength of the dollar more than makes up for it. for example i just bought an S15 valve cover,s14 navan grill and new powerFC(s15) all for under 700$.shipping was 100$ you can't even touch the powerFC for that and i'll have it here today or tomorrow.(less than a month from when the auctions ended) wich is better than anyone could do if i woulda ordered it from a stateside dealer.

I was reading what you all wrote about the S14/S15 transmission's how the 5 speeds are better than the 6 speeds. My friend was telling me that I shouldn't waste my money on an SR20DET S15 because it only contains more boost and an extra gear that in the end it makes no difference, is this true? Or is the S15 worth the extra bucks?

it's not a waste if you take advantage of the differences between them. if you plan on ditching the T28,tossing out the 480cc injectors and don't really care about having the ability to go over what is it 157mph with the 5spd? or the added fuel economy of cruising along at 70mph taching 2.5k on the tach then S15 won't do anything for you.other than just having fewer miles(on average)
