after a couple of days of rewiring on my 97 240sx, a have actually got my s15 sr20det started and runing. It took alot of research but i managed it. I do have a couple of questions. Is my stock fuel pump big enough to keep up with the injectors? I ran it tonight but i heard alot of pinging at higher rpm's. Im not sure if it was because of the cheaper fuel that was in there or what. The other question, I dont have a wastegate solenoid and in the book it says that i am suppose to have one. I hooked it up straight to a vacum source. Again, tonight when i took off in first and second gear, the car was sputtering really bad, but only at higher rpm's. Does anyone know what these problems might be?

youve already spent all that money on the s15 engine dont screw it up by using the stock fuel pump.

Bigger fuel pump is a must. The stock fuel pump is to small to be feeding fuel to those injectors.

ok. I just bought a walbro 255 fuel pump and installed it last night. I drained all the old gas out and put in new 93 octane and also some octane booster just to make sure. I cruised around town for about an hour then finally got on it a couple of times. Same thing happened, pinging at higher rpm's 4500 and above. Any other ideas?

u'd probably have to get it tuned. maybe its running too lean. adjust your map with whatever ecu u got with the s15.

U know what i think is happening. Since i dont have a wastegate solenoid hooked up, which i guess causes the turbo to put out max boost, in turn causing to much air and not enough gas from the ecu, it is causing a very lean condition. I can't turn down the boost because i dont have a solenoid and i dont have any type of fuel management controller to turn up the fuel. Should i get a apexi fuel S-AFC II and keep the boost all the way up and just adjust the fuel higher to keep up with the boost. It sounds like it would make sense to me. Any other ideas?

no offense, but thats a horrible idea. maximum boost? lol Having no wastegate control and adding more fuel is literally adding to the fire.

if the car gets more gas, its going to make more power, and even MORE boost than it is now. Its a never-ending cycle until the turbo cant spin any faster. You NEED to get that wastegate crap working.

BTW - brand new S15 engine and running without a wastegate you are FREAKING NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree. I think you should just get a brand new wastegate that comes the solenoid. it'd be a safer and better way to go because u could end up killin ur engine. much simpler.

ok. I will go get a wastegate solenoid and a boost controller ASAP. Actually, i just bought a boost gauge tonight and hooked it up. Without giving it full gas, the gauge hit between 12 and 15 psi without alot of throttle. I dont think that's to safe for it. Does anybody sell just the solenoid? I asked a couple of shops around here and all they want to do is sell me the full boost kit that comes with the solenoid. Couldnt i just get a stock solenoid for the stock ECU. Ebay doesnt even have one.
