The S15 HLSD case is longer because the S15 uses the VSS sensor input pinion of the diff VS the transmission. But the guts swap over to a S13 or S14 case. I use a S15 HLSD in a S14 case in my S13. The axle shaft outputs are a different spline count than S13 and S14 so you need those. You can use the stock axles though. The case length is the same as a Q45 or J30 so you need an ABS driveshaft if you use the whole S15 case.
The best is swap it into a S13 case, but you need to swap your ring gear over and you need the special bolts to do this.
