I need help from someone who's played with their diff. I put the HLSD in my diff case, replaced all shims, then hammered the rubber side seals in. I didn't hammer them in all the way, since it looks like the seals fit perfectly on the output holes. But there's a gap between the side seal and the bearing. So when I filled the diff case up and tilted it, oil started to pour over the seals. Can someone show me how to install the seals correctly?

Here's the side seal with the gap in it (you can even see the oil there)

Thanks a lot in advance. I really need to get the thing ready by tomorrow evening.

i haven't put the output flanges on, but aren't the seals supposed to do their job without the shafts?

well if the gear oil is flowing out the top above the rest of the seal where the shafts are supposed to go...I say try tapping in the seal a little more (these are new, yes?) and then pop in the output shafts on and then test.

Thanks. Putting the output shafts on seem to cure it. I finished installling and drove the car. It was as quiet as the open diff. Tomorrow I'll check for leak and hopefully try some 2 leg burnout.
