Sorry if this in the wrong forum, I didn't know where else to put it. I recently installed an s15 diff in my s13 yet it still seems to perform a lot like my open diff on loose pavement or in slippery conditions. Today i realized that if one of the rear wheels (in this case the passenger side) is held so it can move and you jack up the drivers side, you can easily spin the drivers side wheel. It feels like there is absolutely no resistance. Is this supposed to happen? Thanks!

Something is not right. Which output shafts did you use? Did they come with the diff? I'm talking about 38221X and 38221Y in below diagram.

Yeah, they came with the diff. What should it be doing? If I recall correctly, it did this even right after I installed it. I bought the diff from a guy on ebay called duaxmachine. Someone on here told me he was a good seller. Also, the car pulls oddly to the right when I floor it. Never did that before either. Is there something I could have done during the install that made this happen?

EDIT* This is exactly what i bought. Looked great when i opened it up. Didn't even look like it had ever been used. Clean as a whistle! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ories

This is mine. It's s15 diff, but came in Nismo box. I think what you got is same as mine.

When both rear wheels are in the air, if you turn one wheel, the other wheel will turn opposite way if I remember correctly. I think you should remove it and check for the damage. Car should never pull to one side, so something's obviously wrong. Mine works like a champ. My car drives like a go cart now.

Man, this is really terrible news. I am scheduled for a track event this sat and I'm up at school and have limited tools and resources to do work on the thing. Looks like I'm not going to the track. Oh and might be out 500 bucks

So, I went out and lifted my car. Spun the left wheel counter clockwise and at first the right wheel didn't spin. Then it started to, but very slowly. Definately not a 1:1 ratio with the left wheel and it eventually stopped. It did spin the opposite direction though. It would only do it if I spun the left wheel really fast. The same occurred when I spun the right wheel. When the car is on slippery terrain (like wet grass) it gets almost no traction and the right wheel always spins over the left.

My bad. I hate to be wrong, so I just jacked up my car, crawl under there and tried. Sorry, what I told you was wrong. This is what should happen. If you turn left wheel, right wheel shouldn't move. Same thing with right wheel. Left wheel shouldn't move when you turn right wheel. BUT, if you turn driveshaft, both wheels should move same direction. Definitely, something's not right with your diff. Why is s15 diff so expensive? I bought someone from Japan via ship and I paid $300. I had to wait a month though.

Okay, now try spinning your wheels as hard/as fast as you can. Mine didn't want to turn at all if I spun them normal hand speed. But when I spun it literally as fast as i could, the opposite one turned a little bit in the opposite direction.

Didn't want to wait a month haha. If this one is F@#!$ed though, I'm gonna hit you up and find out where you got yours for that price! Thanks for the help man! Greatly appreciated!

Not a problem. Glad to help you.
