Yea, im a newbie...but i did search...just not maybe enough. So thats why im just gonna ask.Im gonna be getting a S13 240, probably 92-93...i am gonna be doing the S15 front conversion with the C-West front bumper and hood, stock S15 headlights and some sort of fiberglass fenders. Ive heard that you have to remove the front bumper support...is that true? Cause if i have to do that, what would be there to protect my car if i were in an accident? If you do have to remove the support...is there a way to put another one on? Also, this is kind of a side question. When i do all of this, im gonna repaint my entire car. I dont really want different colors in my engine bay either...do i have to get the car painted without the motor in the bay to have that part done? Or can they carefully work around that? Thanks, yea i know some of these questoins are basic...but help a newbie out. Thanks again.

As far as I know, an s15 conversion is for off-road use only. You have to take out the front support and that makes it dangerous when you get into accidents.

Ive never gotten a car painted, but when you see a high quality paint job, the engine bay is pretty much stripped and painted.

btw: many people will agree that its lame to not even own a 240 yet and already be planning some sort of s15 conversion.... dont just jump on the super street bandwagon.

best way to get away with not painting the engine bay is to get a black car to start with. black engine bay on any color of car looks okay

most people take out the bumper support to make room for a FMIC, yes is it less safe, but not that much. As far as the conversion, you can get the whole thing (headlights, conversion fenders, hood and bumper) for about $3000 for the s13. If you want your engine bay painted, you have to take out the motor if you want it to be a complete and quality job.

personally i like the looks of the stock 91-93 hatch with a fresh shiny paintjob and tastfully lowered

yes $3000 for all the unpainted parts + labor to put them on and paint is about an extra $1500 min. Still want the conversion?? by the way, im thinking you dont because imo it looks like flaming fesces on a stick in combination with the S13 chassis. --it just isn't done

well thanks for your opinion. I have about 23 grand to play with on this car. I hate the pop-up headlights, and i love the look of the S15 front end...put two and two together. No i dont have the car yet, but it doesnt hurt to think ahead. Its only a matter of time before i get the car. I already have a shopping list full of parts that im gonna do within a month of the purchase of the car. I just wanted something that will look good, and be somewhat unique. And there is no one around here with that conversion done.

oh and by the way...(sorry for the double post), i get aftermarket parts at cost because i use to work at a performance shop. So those S15 headlights will cost me $600 instead of $950, and so on...Ever since i saw that Super Street article way back with the blue 180SX with the S15 conversion done, i was in love...i think it looks great for the S13 chassis.Check it out:http://www.superstreetonline.c...9818/

23 grand will get you very far. In fact, you could basically build a dream car with that much money. Good luck with it.

thanks guys for the support. I appreciate it a lot. I talked to some people that know probably too much about nissans and cars that are similar, they said that i can use the stock bumper support, but it would have to be modified. I believe he said that they would have to weld a few places and cut a few things to make it fit, but that its been done with the stock bumper support with no problems.I will for sure keep everyone updated.

no the bumper support has to go the fenders dont line up (major biznatch) and you are gonna have to make custom bumper mounting brackets. do it yourself ha good luck...by a bodyman you wont see your car for at least a week or two. be careful friends have received total crap from inexpierenced bodyworkers.
