I went to Cal State Fullerton On Monday with a friend to drop of his wife for class. In the front partking lot off of Nutwood, there was an S15 parked there. Anyone know it's purpose and owner? I passed it twice, but the second time was from a distance. Very doubtful it was any kind of a conversion of any kind. Didn't seem like the place you would see a car that's imported. It had no license plates. It looked to have the 17 inch Z wheels, but I didn't see those up close. I'll ask my friend to see if it's still there the next time he goes.

ahh!! That was mine !!! I inhereted some money from some stocks my grandfather had from way back. Anyway, i used the money to purchase the car in Japan and brought it back here. However, i still have to try to get it legalized and all that crap, from what i am looking at it is going to be a long wait, and alot of money. Yea but anyway i was just in town becasue i had to pick it up in the area so i decided to chill with it there until i get it shipped back to the east coast. Hopefully everything will go thru and the process will not take too long!! Wish me luck guys and i will keep you posted on further updates. I will have pics as soon as i get a new camera, it got busted when i was drunk the other night. Anyway, later.:ylsuper

Nope, I saw the back of it first. It was definitely a full S15.

To my knowledge there are no street legal S15's in the US... last time i looked they weren't listed of the cars allowed to be imported. (this list:Link I know it's from oct of 2k3, but it's the latest one i've found) He would either have to (correct me if i'm wrong) get a letter from Nissan stating the it has a counterpart in the states that is of similar dimensions, and would fair similarly in a crash test, or have the NTSB perform crash tests on a few of em. not to mention the EPA's various emission requirements.

If he has gotten one in, it would set a precedence, and he should share his info with the rest of us who would love one. :) I would trade my Kouki and my Zenki plus $$$ for a bonafied legal S15 in a heartbeat.

There is some sort of new clause that allows foreign cars to be brought over like the Zonda and stuff without being crash tested. I'm not too familiar with it, but there ARE ways of importing a complete car without crash testing it and such. If it's a car that you're bringing over to drive yourself that is, if you want to sell it is when it gets complicated. Maybe it wouldnt apply to an S15.. who knows, but i'm sure there are other ways.

I believe that rule is for very rare cars or cars of historical significance. Contrary to the popular belief on this forum, S15's don't fit into either category. :(

I'm sure you could fly to Japan and rent one with those funds! Otherwise you won't be getting an s15 within the decade, Sorry!

Ive seen a greyish S15 going north on the Interstate-5 once around orange county. It was definitely a RHD S15. It was pretty neat.

my S15 is on its way...registering it as a race car because they're aren't street legal. emissions issues.
