I know this really isn't an "engine specifec" question, more of a general car thing. I've noticed that since I've changed my stock rad to my shiny new Koyo Aluminum. My coolant res. has been losing coolant, to the point of being empty! I'll fill it up and within one 10 minute drive, it'll have lost almost half of it!

Symptoms:

Leaking from underneath the car, nowhere near the res. but actually directly where the lower rad hose is.

No overheating whatsoever.

Smell of coolant occasionally while driving (attracts annoying wasps )

---

Now I've got a really strong feeling, almost 100% positive it is the lower rad hose. But I did fill the res. again started the engine and let it run for a good 5 minutes and rev'd the engine a few times and held it steady for a few seconds as well. I failed to see any leaks happening? Can anyone help me confirm my suspicion?

Also is there a compatible USDM lower rad hose I can use with the SR20? (200SX?)

you say your filling your coolant overflow tank? or am i just reading that wrong? as long as your radiator is holding fluid you should be fine. i dont know why your filling up your overflow tank...

Well generally should the coolant res. be full as well?

Yes your coolant res is there for coolant to go overflow into from the cooling system. If you've got a leak at the lower radiator hose, you can get a flex hose from a local parts store or you can get something that'll last a long time like a Samco radiator hose kit. Those are about $100 but well worth it.

If you're leaking coolant from the reservoir, is it cracked? Or are you taking turns with a bit more flair than it was intended for?

no, it shouldnt. its not there to give water to the radiator. its there to take it from the rad incase your rad temps get to high so it has somewhere to go.
