I was thinking of picking up a zenki s14, and then converting it to a kouki using the whole fenders, hood, and what not.

My question is:

Does anybody actually carry a "kit" where it would include all necessary pieces for this conversion? I've searched but the results that came up just gave the same advice over and over again. I know midnight racing used to have a conversion kit that costed around 1400 dollars.

Anything out there like that?

anybody done the conversion out there that would like to give me some advice?

Thanks.

Uh....i think it you could get it at half the cost by finding the pieces (ie. junkyard, etc.) rather than lookin for a "kit" But since i have never done or will do the conversion you dont have to take my advice. I just think that it should be cheaper than lookin for a "kit".

the chances of me even finding a 240 in a scrapyard is slim.

i'm not kidding. I've seen like 15 koukis in my life on the road. I doubt i'll find a wrecked one.

and i'm not saying it has to be a kit. I just need to find a place that will have cheap- parts.

ok bro heres the deal. I never knew how hard looking for oem body panels and such were. On the sites i found i dont think i noticed anything that can help you but they have phone numbers, so you can call around, im sure they would be willing to get the parts. heres the sites.http://www.carpartswholesale.c...html, http://www.partstrain.com/cgi-...40SX, http://catalog.overnightautopa...y=15, http://www.autobodypartsonline...40sx, http://www.nisspartswholesale....html. thats about it, but dont forget to check our sponsors, im sure they could be of some help.

Thanks, I tried checking out some of the sponsors, but I don't know if I really wanted to buy straight OEM stuff, seeing as how the aftermarket stuff is much cheaper than buying OEM, even at a discount.

So what exactly is involved in swapping out the front end? Radiator support? I know i need:

1) hood2) headlights3) fenders4) ? Radiator support?

and for the back end

1) tail lights2) ? bumper?

Thanks.

Yea, i have a zenki now and I cant decide if i want a an S15 fron or the kouki front, they both look pretty sickkk. I mean I do like the zenki as well, but its just not the same.

However I dont know why you need a radiator support, or the rear bumper. All you need is the fenders, hood, front & tail lights.

I actually like the way my zenki looks better, but I see the koukis everywhere. Why don't you just buy a kouki instead? The difference couldnt be more than the cost of converting it.

I don't see a really big difference between the two. The front end is a little different and the tail lights have lines though them. What else? I'd think if I were going to spend the money i'd go with an actual kit or an S15 convesion. Or am I thinking it costs more than it does?

i'd say i saw about two kouki's, about 10 zenki's, and a sheit load of s13's. i'm proud to have a zenki!!! :asmile

i've been to a few junkyards out here and i never seen a wrecked 240 before, i've also gave them my phone number to let me know if any 240 come in wrecked and no word. they had to source a stock 95 vlsd from texas.

Like mentioned above, finding a kouki (exactly what I want) is so much harder than finding zenkis that have about the ~right~ amount of mileage. I know the "tail lights" aren't that much different, but the later models do look SO much better.

I am concerned that this will not be a straight bolt up operation, and I am also concerned that HAVING to buy OEM parts will absolutely not be worth it. If it ends up being several thousand dollars more, that'd mean i'd either have to find a zenki for 2-3k (not that hard, but a low mile one? foooooooorget about it..) , settle for an automatic kouki (not gonna happen), or get a funk assed colored one..

I hate the fact that these cars are so hard to find.. but I guess thats ok .. seeing one around here has a certain bling factor :D

Ok, after doing a bit of research on prices and what not, it'll cost me around 9 Grand (conservative estimate) with the cost of the car, wheels/tires, IE to get my car up to par.

Not to shabby if you ask me. I think i'll stop by a nissan dealer and ask if these parts are directly replaceable.

one easier but more expensive way would be to go all aftermarket parts...

body kit (for bumper and looks of course)fiberglass/carbonfiber fenderscarbonfiber/Fiberglass hood

only OEM you really need are the headlight/taillight assemblies that way

chances are u wont find one in a junkyard, and unless you have the moeny to buy from nissan, you're getting used stuff. Try zilvia.net and search for hood, fenders, headlights, brackets, bumper, bumpersupport, turn signals, fogs and all that great stuff, itll run u around 15oo minus paint and shipping. It's expensive, and IMO not worth it if ur car is fine (not wrecked)

Waste of money if you ask me. (luckly nobody did). But if you really like the style that much more power to ya. However, i'd consiter looking around to find a entire car... maybe if you've got that kinda money you can buy one wigh high miles, put your stuff on it, and it's stufff onyours and sell.

When your checking with the dealership see if they are willing to give you a break on the cost or sell it to you at cost. You may also check with the dealerships that are supporters on NICO Im sure they will give you a break on OEM parts. I admit that I am partial to that front end ;) But to answer your question, yes it is a direct bolt up... there are some additional brackets and supports that you will also need to purchase in addition to the fenders bumper and hood. Do what you want with the car, in the end all that matters is that you are happy with it...
