Hello everyone im new here

For a while i have been desperatly looking for a nice Nissan to settle in.. My pops and me are both nissan men (he has a 280z S130) so it was natural for me to buy a 240sx S14..

ive had it for two weeks and ive been debating whether or not im gonna change my Zenki front to a Kouki front.. but idk if thats too ricey or not.. like changing the badging of 240sx to silvia (thats ricey imo).. but i was wondering your guys' input..

also if i was to do this.. what would i need to do to make it clean and legit looking?

Thanks

You would need a kouki hood, fenders, headlights, corner lights, and bumper cover. I also don't really see how you could think updating your car to a newer oem look is rice. You could say changing an s13 silvia bumper to an s13 oem silvia aero bumper is rice using your logic.

the s14a and s14b "Zenki/kouki" are identical cars from behind the fender on back.

how is that rice?people do it all the time.the badges are the same just the hood/headlights/fenders/bumper are different.and they all bolt up. as its the same chassis

yeah.. i wasnt sure if it was rice.. but what im hearing from alot of people these days is that making your car, what it really isnt, is rice.. so my zenki should stay zenki??..

i think im gonna do it tho.. the kouki just looks so much more aggressive and newer..

thx for the responces i had to make sure i wasnt contributing to the rice that infests the streets

Its not rice.people do zenki --> Kouki swaps all the time.and it isn't very hard to do though it can get expensive as there aren't many used kouki front ends floating around out there.

if you dig the kouki front end betterDo itbut buy Kouki tail-lights also.they are slightly different but will complete the conversion.

yea.. i noticed they were a bit different.. they're little darker and have thin lights horizontal on them right?

how much would you say a conversion would cost me?? im in maine at the moment, and ive only seen a kouki here once..

No man definetly not. I think you've got the wrong definition of ricey. Like someone said previously its just the updated look of the car. Big wings, ungodly loud mufflers with leds on them and altezza lights are ricey.

I think changing to a Kouki front just comes down to preference I would never do it I just don't like the look I prefer the smooth zenki look. But thats just my opinion. Actually the number one reason for changing other than the look is you can run H.I.Ds without completely blinding on coming traffic I think. atleast that would be my only reason to convert.

And if you wanna turn heads do an s15 conversion. Now that's a conversion I want

The kouki swap is not ricey at all. Eff what other people say and do what you want to do.

Rice to me is having huge wings on a car that cant do speeds to make it functional. But MOST OF ALL rice is defined by the driver themselves and not as much by the car. if you ask me its 60-40. Stickers that say like hks and AEM and all that stuff on a car without said products equipped is rice to me. nasty body kits= rice to me. visors tipped to the side, driving with one hand perched on the wheel, and your head and shoulders leaning .. is a ricer/ or thug wannabe to me.

Easily over a grand with tail lights. If it were me I would just go all out and get the jdm front bumper and lip, sideskirts, and rear bumper

OHHH MAN.. S14.5 .. that would be sick.. but thats probably really expensive for a real S15 front end.. and idk if i can trust those company's i've never heard of that make their own kits for sale... i don't wanna butcher my baby of course

All 240's are beautiful. I personally prefer a Kouki so i bought a Kouki. If i had found a good deal on a Zenki instead of spending money on a conversion I would have saved that money for a Navan kit. Kouki's can't do that lol.

the term "Rice" is overly subjective.

if you try to build your car based on everyone's definition of what "Rice" is, you're gonna end up with something YOU don't like.

the muffler guy I bought a 3" flange from called my car "Rice" because I had oem jdm aero (basically chuki sideskirts and a rear valance)... I didn't want to waste my breath on him. Needless to say, he didn't know ANYTHING beyond the domestic world... plus he kept calling exhaust manifold "headers"

But a clean Zenki is more appreciated then a clean Kouki IMO...

if i ever get tired of modding s13's i may go into my s14 for something like this. i do agree with the zenki blending into the crowd. sometimes its a good thing. i would have to be pretty much done with performance before i sunk that much cash into changing the front, when its already decent looking.

all i can add is i've got a stock body kouki, its clean and i get lots of compliments on it, the zenki is just too plain, blends in too much, nissan definitely got it right with the kouki front end, aggressive but not in a "stupid, everybody look at me im a tool" way. other than that spend the money on performance first then worry about looks, shop around for a good rear ended kouki while making your car go fast
