Whats up guys.

My idea is to try and take a zenki headlight and probably corner light and make a cover for them. The idea is to make a cover that can go over the headlights to protect and advance the overall look of the headlights (Can be painted black, Or whatever color you want, Might try to find a guy that can do carbon fiber if it looks good). The idea came from seeing a friends Evo with carbon fiber covers and it looked sick.

Now question time,
1. What do you think would be the best thing to make a mold with? I am thinking fiberglass or something of the sort that i can lay over top of and let dry.

2. How do you think it should be mounted to the headlight ( Remember it needs to be a quick take off.) after a little bit of looking i think i can make a tab that can screw into the corner light hole. What i cant figure out is how it should be attached on the end ( On the grill side).

3. Has it been done on a zenki? Pic's?

Any help would be great, Also if you think its a terrible idea and hate it....please just do this  I know a company somewhere probably sells something like this, but if i can make something just as good for less why not?

man u can try to make some but unless u have some super clean headlights n corner lights, i dont thing it would look any different... u still be able to see the dirty/yellowish lights..
now if u could just do a clear replacement cover for the headlights to get rid of the oem, like them circuit sports(?) sell for cheaper, well that would be awesome..

That is a good read, thanks for posting that. As for the pictures...I'm just not real big on the glass one's and really like the look of the covers if you can pull it off with the right color combo/ body styling...

Now i know this isn't a zenki and will look different but i am going for something similar to this.

I'm not sure if you missed the point of my post, but this is it: Someone already had this idea and it doesn't look good on Zenki's.

Those are headlight covers on the burgundy Zenki I posted. There's also pics of those covers floating around on a light blue Zenki and the covers are still equally ugly. Clear headlight lenses like the Circuit Sports ones are the best upgrade for Zenki headlights, IMO.

Thanks for your opinion but like i said i do not like the glass, clear look ( maybe because of the chrome look? I'm not sure). On a blue or burgundy zinki i see that they don't look good, But from the picture i posted above ^^ i think they might look half way descent on an all black ( what I'm doing ) zenki. Its worth a shot, If it doesn't look good i am only down 25-30 bucks at the most and a few hours of time.

It should be as easy as putting them on, Seeing they don't look good and taking them off.

You're welcome to it. There was a company selling these a while back, but they went out of business last I heard.

The correct way to make a zenki look better is to swap a kouki front on it. :yesnod

man if ur trying to go for that "look" y not just clean the hell out of ur lights n shoot it with that spray on tint they sell at autozone, it would look 10 times better than the actual covers..

I think i am just going to try and make a headlight lens mold ( any ideas? i am thinking foam blocks and carve them down to fit?)

That way i can make a number of the clear lenses and test ideas on them. if anyone has done this and has any tips on how to or things to watch that would be great. If they come out good i might make a few sets and if anyone needs any i might can help ya out.

Its definitely going to be a trial and error kind of thing but should turn out good.

The best stuff to use for molds is modeling clay, or fiberglass. I plan on making a mold as well just waiting for better weather so I can work in my garage, winter is too long :tisk:

I personally am not a fan of the clear covers. The only thing I would do with Zenki headlights is replace them with german glass headlights

Why you would put something dark on something that's supposed to be bright is beyond me...

Fluted lenses make the car look soooo dated to me. If the German glass headlights weren't fluted, I'm sure they'd be one of the hottest Zenki mods...
