Yeh that's been around for a while, it recently participated in some rally hillclimb event and did quite well. It was also featured in a performance magazine recently too.

There's a number of crazy VH transplant cars in this country, half of which will probably end up here on nico eventually. :D

has anyone other than this car or John Dixon experimented with an ITB set up for the VH yet? pro's con's? is it worth the effort and R&D or is the spider manifold really the way to go? or even a single log or twin log type?

I think it depends on your plans for the car. Street, racing, etc.

With fuel injection one would think the stock intake does not hinder performance. The limiting factor has to do more with CR, cams and bore size. The VH is optimized for the best power, mileage and reliability. Obviously with the ITB's your airflow and fuel input increases along with power output at chosen RPM's, but throw your mileage, efficiency, reliability, VVT and most of your usable low end torque out the window.

so in the end its a matter of a streetable car with low end torque OR a gas guzzling monster that operates soley at a narrow band in the upper end of the rpm range? what about the single log or twin log type intake plenums?

When you study the 16.5" runners [+intake track length in head] you see the tuning is designed to boost 4,000 rpm torque by ~~12% [2,000 rpm by 8%*] at the expense of >6,200 rpm HP [-3-4%]...............perfect for a 4,000 pound base [probably 4500 pounds loaded] lux car.

* More than half of this comes from complex tuning system in front of MAF

The tapered diameter of runners makes it difficult to just cut out a few inches to raise tuning torque rpm.

Changing cams [later IVC] without shortening the runners relocates [positionally] the second reflected filling pulse wave further complexing the situation.

When you optimize fuel and ignition advance the 4,000 rpm torque can get up to 333 lb/ft roughly equaling the brand new 4.5 engines but you run out of breath above 6500 rpm at 307-315 HP.
