Before you go on a couple of opinions based on individual experiences, search around (this site and elsewhere) and educate yourself about the engines, their differences, do's and dont's, capabilities, parts availabilities (junk yards, new and upgrades), etc. Read this as it's pretty informative as well:

Everyone I've ever known that opts to swap the KA out for the SR either doesn't know how to build up the KA or simply wants a drop in engine or that JDM status rights thang. For me, it's like telling a V8 guy to swap out his 396 for a 350 ... less displacement/less potential. Just build the KA right with consideration for boost. Again, "my" experiences and you should do what makes you comfortable. I have nothing against the SR engine other than it's lower displacement to the KA. Just build whatever right and either way, good luck!
