s14 VTC question

Every1 i talk to tells me that to make power with a s14 sr20, the VTC should be disabled. Is this true? If so, how does it hinder performance and how do i disable it? Just unplug the VTC solenoid? Would it hurt anything to unplug the VTC solenoid? Thanks all, im the only 1 in my area with a s14 sr20 so i dont have any1 to talk with about this.

it's not that disabling VTC will give you more power but when you upgrade cams to make more power, VTC goes away.

So its not that no VTC causes higher power output but upgrades to increase power output disavles VTC.

There are cams that retain VTC. Like the HKS step 1 for example.
