Does anyone know the difference with an s14 and an s14B, specifically with the hood and front end.

ive been reading forever on this, it is that some people say the s14a=after (97-98), and the s14b=before (95-96), that doesnt make sense to me at all. The only reason is i have to ship a hood to switzerland and the customer has a s14b, he says its a 1997, just making sure the 97 240sx hood is the same.

it goes numerically a 95-96, b 97-97. think about it this way, if they named the 95-96 the s14b then they would have to know they were going to change it two years later or if they didn't then they would have to change the name of the car after it already came out. a,b not b,a

sounds good to me, another post said that they were just s14 until the the 97 came out than they were calling them a and b, your right though, thanks.

I've always heard of them referred to as zenki(95-96) and Kouki (97-98)?

you could always just call the 97-98 an mcs14... but they are generally referred to as s14a here. Also, Zenki and Kouki (and Chuki) are Japanese for something or another, but those are also correct terms for referring to the cars.

s14 = zenkis14a = kouki

All depends. There doesent seem to be any real method to this. There are so many damn system of catalogueing things that either is arguably best. Just say zenki or kouki =P

I call my car a 98 240sx. It's simple to say and it is easier for a broader audience to understand...

Actually you got it backwards there:

s14b = s14 before minor changes14a = s14 after minor change = mcs14

For those not worried about being cool, these cars oddly enough are also labeled by YEAR. Just an FYI... ;)

I happen to have a friend from Japan, and I asked her what these terms mean...She said this:

Zenki = Early, as in early model...

Kouki = Late, as in late model...
