Ive done some searching and dont know if I wasnt using the right key words or what but wasnt able to find the information I was looking for.

Heres my issue. I have a base model S14 (4lug, Open Diff) and am trying to find VLSD for it. I know the easiest way is to find another S14s VLSD but thats proving to be more difficult than anything else with out paying an arm and a leg.

I found a NA 300ZX VLSD and have a couple different questions on how I could go about this.

First off what exactly do I need to do the swap?

Also is it possible for me to switch the innards from the ZX diff into my diff?

And if not can I just pull out the LSD portion of the ZX diff and fit it into my diff keeping my gear and pinion?

J30 think 95+ is a direct swap "Viscous Limited Slip Differential" back covers are the same between J30 and S14, N/A Z32 not sure think its more like 5 bolt flange which would not be a direct swap with out axles.

All J30's are VLSD, but earlier ones are 5 bolt axle flange, if you want direct drop in head for the later ones.

And drive shaft flanges are all interchangeable between all cars and all diffs.

The only thing that I'm not sure is the ABS, some very between location of sensors, some are on front of pinion and some on ether side of axle out put flanges. That would be the only thing you would have to watch for I think.

That Silver S14a is your car son, in your aviator? Nice looking kouki like color too, I like very much

Thanks for the help. I ended up going with a N/A Z32 diff and got some J30 5 bolt axles which should be a direct swap with no modifications. Ill let yall know how it goes. Im stoked to finally get lsd. woot!

Yea man its my car. I love the color as well thanks. Pretty soon it will be lsd'ed out and some new suspension put on it giving it a lower stance. Should be fun.

Sounds like you know what ur doing. That's what I was thinking N/A Z32 axles are 5 bolt just like early J30's. Should be a direct drop in back cover is the same as well.
