well I was reading the FSM and I came across this neat little section regarding the VTC stuff and evidentially I have never read anything accurate about what exactly this system does so I thought I would post it.
It works under 2 conditions:
1.) engine coolant temperature is 122 degrees or more and the engine speed is between 1050rpm and 5700rpm
2.) engine load is high and the engine speed is 1050rpm or less.
When the solenoid valve is ON it advances your timing and increases valve overlap from 1 degree to 21 degrees.
