Alright, I ve searched my brain out and still cant find an answer. I need to know what the difference is between a jap spec s14 rear diff and a us spec s14 rear diff is. If there is any at all. My jap spec rear just blew up in my car. It was i Lsd rear. I want to get another one but dont have a lot of money. Ive also heard that the infinity J30 rears are the same as the s14 rears. or at least will bolt up and are lsd. I need some pointers. Right now i just purchased a s13 open diff rear so the car would be drivable for the time being. if anybody knows the answer it would be greatly appreciated

both usdm and jdm models were offered with open or VLSD diffs. It doesnt make a difference which continent the parts are from, it's still the same.

J30 diff is a direct bolt on if its a 96-98 j30 diff with 6 bolt output shaft/axles. The 95 and below have a 5 bolt output flange and axles so you need the j30 axles aswell if you get a diff with bolt shafts.

I believe that some of the Jap. diffs are geared different. I'm using the 4.36 (4.4) Nismo LSD rear diff. from a s14 sylvia.

I don't think the US 240s came with that gearing. Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody.

Thanks alot guys. The rear thet blew up was a lsd s14 jdm rear. Im looking to replace it with the equivalent. thats why im wondering about the difference in the two. I loved the gearing that that rear had. im putting in a stock s13 open rear now to get the car moving. Thanks again
