s14 trunks 2 q's

first, does anyone sell carbon fiber trunks for s14's?

and also, i get a lot of rattling in my trunk, so i took out the two helper bars and the noise has significantly decreased, but now i cant pop the trunk......is there a way to adjust the bars so they are quiet?

do ALL s14's have this problem??

Umm Blake, are you sure the S14's have hydraulic lifts for the trunk? I thought the coupes used springs for the trunks, and only the hatches used the hydraulic thingies.

s14's don't have hydraulics...the rattle is a common problem though.you just need to adjust the latch.bring it down a little and drive around.if that doesn't work try again.

well there are theese two hook bars are kinda criss cross on another taht keep the trunk up when i life it. without it, 90% of the noise is gone, but there is still some rattle?

however, my trunk is f*ing HEAVY and the only way to open it now is to use the key and hold it up.

you sure you have an s14??? my trunk is pretty light even after the sound deader and i cant think of any bars ther besides the ones that hold it open one sec ill go look at mine.............dude you must have a s13 only thing i can think of

no, he is talking about the lift assist springs in the rear.most people call them bars because that is what they look like.

The bars are known to rattle badly, and the latch also causes noise. adjust the latch and put your bars back in. if the noise stops, then it was just your latch. You may try puting a hydraulic arm on the S14 trunk to make it open properly as well if you want to keep the bars out.
