I recently purchased a 1995 S14 and the trunk fits funny... the owner didn't say anything about being hit and when i originally inspected it i didn't notice the fitment issue, but its kinda cockeyed... and one corner is sticking up high... I cant tell if the hinges are bent or if its the lid.... or BOTH!...

Any advice on how I could figure it out? and if what would you do if something is bent... would you replace the parts? or would you attempt to fix them your self.

HELP PLEASE!

Welcome to NICO ik0n!

First question... is the sheet metal straight or is it just the arms and brackets?

Inspect the brackets and make sure all the bolts are tight. You should have some play that you can adjust the fitment.

If you do find something bent, you can certainly get replacement parts from nissan parts counter or any other online parts department.

Can you post a picture of how bad it is? I've found it quite common to see s14s with trunks that are a little 'off.'

There is a small dent in the center of the deck lid... but when I took it off it all seemed good and straight aside from the dent.

I can get pictures of it tonight... probably here in a second.

Also, I removed all the carpeting and found the sheet metal in the bottom of the trunk is kinda messed up. So I believe that the car had been rear ended and poorly repaired. I climbed underneath and the frame is straight... but even still. I believe the impact could have damaged the hinges.

Any help is appreciated!

wow....that's off quite a bit

I'd have to say that's a result of the panels not lining up properly due to the accident.

Okay... after giving it some thought... how would I find out FOR SURE that the panels aren't aligned properly... or if the hinges are straight.

I'd much rather know for sure then sell my baby.

Edit: I gave my car a good once over... and well there is serious frame damage in the drivers side rear...

I don't know if I should get it pulled straight or if I should sell it... but I really want an S14...

I know if I pull it I really wont have any structural integrity there anyways... ****

What would you do? be honest.

Fix it and weld in some extra metal to strengthen it... OR... sell it and hope for another s14 to come around for an ok price.

I am so mad I could... I don't know... but I am mad.
