s14 Transmission noise

im having a rattle noise that cause from my transmission. its not nasty or anything but you can even feel it through the stick. my stick just has a stiff amount of vibration. any ideas? also how much woukd i be looking at to have my tansmission rebuilt>? are nissan trannies strong?

same problem here. however my car is an S13 though. 91 hatch.

Same thing happens, it rattles and when i press the clutch the noise goes away. My stick vibrates a little also while its rattling.

can anyone out there help us out? thanks

it's our input shaft bearings... I've got the same thing.. rebuild kit is 175 on the net(search for 240sx transmission rebuild kit) plus there is a how-to on these forums. Now all you gotta do is man up and rebuild it. If you send it out it'll be like 150 in labor. Why not get another trans? they are going for like 200-250. I just picked up an sr trans with 30k for 200.. my S14sr is gonna be my spare once I rebuild it. Hope this helps..

BTW it's not your pilot or throwout bearing, The pilot bushing will need to be changed too, cuz the shaft has some up and down play ruining the bushing. The chatter is annoying too..
