300zx use a short arm long arm front suspension i believe. s chassis use a mcpherson strut setup so they are 100% different nothing is goin to swap over unless u do some serious fab work and mount the whole 300zx suspension onto the s which in your case im pretty sure is out of your reach

sorry man you didn't help me all you did was assume that i didn't search, which i did so idk what else to say, from what ive been told, the rear spindles will work but you have to use 300 zx rear struts! if you know then help a noob out and all i said was that i wasn't new to the process, trust me ive been on honda-tech for 6yrs, both forums are powered by zeroforum, and navigation is the same with minor differences! once again sorry just a newb to the nissan scene. if you can help a brother out if not i understand!

Why do you need help? You figured it all out on your own. That is all that swaps over. This isn't quite the honda world where you can take everything off an integra to hook up your civic.

i'm slowly finding that out, but there's still alot of interchange in the nissan world! for instance im running a 93 maxima p/s pump on my vh45 and there's very little fabbing to do, 1 front bracket and figuring the lines and belts but anyway thanks alot. hopefully i will be able to get my z32 front and rear brakes and rear spindles today!

i was also wondering about rear diffs and drivetrain interchange, i want to have a lsd out back and a stronger rear setup, i just ordered my mazworx headers and will be shipping the z bellhousing out today for them to machine for my adapter plate!

For the LSD you could go aftermarket with a good Kaaz diff (I also believe NISMO offers one as well)or go with something that came stock like the VLSD (Viscous Limited Slip) in the s13 or HLSD (Helical Limited Slip) in the s15. I would go with some good traction bar setup if you plan on drag racing and if you plan on drifting look into some aftermarket sway bars.

sweet man thankyou, do you think the stock rear diff will hold up to the vh45's torque?

It will definatly hold up to the torque however are we talking the open diff or limited slip diff? Both would hold it but in drag racing you would have serious problems with traction running an open diff and in drifting not having a limited sip would suck. What exactly are you shooting for on this car? VH swaps are hot by the way... Also you could weld you diff but that is a very cheap and dangerous alternative. (As well as expensive with all the extra tire wear) Along with that the VH would eat a welded diff.

ah okay you could go with removable traction bars or just go with coilovers and a really good sway bar set up. It sounds like you are going for a little of everything so there is no real way to set up a suspension system that is the best on every style of driving/sport driving.

I would say the real go between for you would be coilovers and good sway bar setup. Also you can't forget shock/strut tower bars or frame/chassis stiffening. What kinda HP you shooting for? Also what engine are you using?

The 300zx is macpherson strut all four corners. What is short arm long arm? unequal wishbones??? because the Z does not have that.

The rear Z knuckles will fit on the 240sx rear if either you get the shock absorber modified (or buy one made for this purpose) or get adapter fittings (I have heard of these before but have never seen them). There is no stock parts that will allow you to use the Z knuckle on the 240sx. I don't understand the point of that anyways...You do know that the rear e-brake drum assembly will mount up perfectly to the 240sx stock knuckles right? at least on the s14. I would have to check about the s13. Also the hub/bearing assembly also bolts up perfectly...

zer...a-s13

Also, if you want/need a stronger rear end the r200 swap from a j30 or 300zx is pretty straight forward. You can do a q45 diff swap but it's harder and needs modifications.

Actually the 300zx is unequal length arms front and multilink rear. Not a single macphereson to be had.

seems that I don't know exactly what a macpherson strut is. I retract me previous statement about the Z suspension.

i just want the lighter rear knuckles, any lil bit will help in weight reduction, i think i will use the 300z rear diff and look for a helical gear lsd, i know that they will work alot easier on the s14 as opposed to the s13.
