hey guys,

I used the test light to check all the fuses and 3 of them were blown, although you couldnt tell by looking at them. Put new ones in and lights and gauge are working fine now. Feel like a bit of an idiot now but i guess it pays to check properly eh, and now i know how to remove the dash board hehe. Anyways guys thanks heaps for the help.

... you're welcome.

hey motoman sorry about the late reply, so you got a facelift silvia? What parts you after?

And i finally figured out what was blowing the fuse. Whenever i wire up the stereo and turn the lights on it blows the fuse straight away. So i took the stereo out , replaced the fuse and the lights have been working fine for days. Do you know what could be causing it to do that?

thanks heaps

ya its an s14(a) over there i believe. its a 98 240sx. im looking for a lot of parts. most of the interior, wiring loom, front wings, and a ton of other stuff. i actually have a list if your really interested in helping me. the biggest thing is a have to find a way to get it shipped over for less that $4000 dollars.

on the stereo, it sounds to me that you have a couple wires in the wrong places. there is a wire that when you turn on the headlights it sends a (+) signal to it. that wire is supposed to dim the stereo (for night driving). there is a possibility that you have that wire grounded some how. that illumination wire is red with a blue stripe. (try leaving that one out of the wiring) also how did you wire it up? did you cut the factory plugs? or did you use a wiring kit like this onehttp://cgi.ebay.com/Nissan-240...d9e81if you did use that one, the blue wire one pin directly to the left of the red/blue wire is your switched power. the switched power wire should connect to the red wire on your stereo harness.

stereo harness power(s)yellow- constant power (+)red- switched power(+)black- constant ground(-)blue- antenna power (when radio is on)(+)orange-illumination (-) when lights off (+) when lights ongreen- left rear (+)green/black- left rear (-)purple- right rear (+)purple/black- right rear (-)white- left front (+)white/black- left front (-)grey- right front (+)grey/black- right front (-)

i hope that helped a little. also i can probably convert the factory wiring on the jdm harness for you. i have the jdm dash harness.

you may want to check out this site if you have any other wiring problems though

good luck

hello motoman,

ive wired up the stereo, i left out the red wire with blue stripe and it all works fine, lights and all.

one thing though, the head unit doesnt turn itself off when you turn the car off. I used the test light to find the power wires on the harness, they were 2 orange and green striped wires. I connected one of these to the red wire on the stereo, and the other to the yellow on the stereo. Im guessing i need to connect the yellow to the accessory wire, but im having trouble locating it, if you could tell me which colour it is, it would be a great help.

Thanks heaps
