Does the S14 have a gas light that comes on when low on gas? How much is in the tank when the light comes on?

alright you guys, that light is fuked up. I can drive for at least a quarter tank less than the empty line, with the gas light coming on and going off countless times. Is anybody elses like that?? Its actually kinda nice cuz I just cant seem to run out of gas, so who cares...

The gas light comes on for less than a minute and fades away....then comes on again....I don't think it just stays on.

After about 230 miles of city driving, my gauge drops to below E (S14)... and let me tell you, there is PLENTY of gas left. I always run my tank till the light comes on and reset my trip and I usually get around 325 miles to the gallon on 91 octane all city driving.

Hell, the gas light on my S14 has been going on and off all week and I'm still going. I usually get around 400, but it hits E around 300 miles.

Tachyon: I know you have heard this before, but I just can't stop laughing at your sig. Every time I see it I crack up.

I discovered this light even existed in my car after 3 years of owning it :)

I was going on the freeway and when i saw it i was WTF.

The funniest thing is that it dissapeared 20! miles later.

i think after the light comes up you have at least a gallon and a half left.

it's not good for your car to have you drive the car till the very end of the tank.. you are letting a lot of crap into the engine by doing it..

My father in law is a petroleum engineer and he told me not to do that based on all that he has learned thorugh the 28+ years he has been a PE...

I agree with black240 it is not good to run your tank dry it allows all kinds of stuff into the fuel system and dries out seals in the pump, so I have heard.

really then all is well since i have a walbro fuel pump still in the plastic :) its strange that when i decided to take the turbo ka route i would end up needing to replace all the parts that were going bad ha. (I've laughed too soon my car is being towed)
