Well, I was tired of having to choose between having good sound, or sacrificing trunk space and/or not being able to corner hard without the box moving. So, I got my Construction Engineer brother to help me out with a sub-box.

The design is for two seperate boxes, sealed, for 12" speakers @ ~ 0.8 cu. ft. of air space (can be changed very easily). They are placed on either side of the trunk, and partially use the fender for air space. This means you have to move the carpet aside that is there, or take the side sections out ( what I am doing). This also means that you have to remove the jack and the metal piece that hold the jack in. Anyway, you can figure out the rest by looking at the AutoCAD drawing that is linked below. It was done in AutoCAD 2000, but I can get it saved in R14 or whatever if someone wants. I will also export it to a JPG for those of you who don't have AutoCAD.

I had the same issue when planing out my box. I approached it differently though, I removed the spare tire and built a box in the spare tire well to house to 10's. I lost almost no trunk space, but now I have no spare tire. So if you don't mind not having a spare tire I would recommend building it in the spare tire well. If you decided to do this and need help let me know, I will be glad to help. Or if anybody wants pictures you can e-mail me

Here is the JPG version of the drawing, not nearly as clear as the AutoCAD drawing, but I put the dimensions down in PSP so they can be read.

The Release14 (R14) version of the drawing is linked here:

PabloHoney,If youwant to try somehting a little different, why don't you use fiberglass for the enclosures. I've made lots of enclosures using fiberglass. It is light, strong, and can be used to make the most of your available airspace. I've also found that a 10" speaker will fitnext to where the passengers sit in the back seat. That would be alittle more difficult to make look good though.

I am thinking of putting some 8" subs in the rear sides like you said. That was gonna be my next audio project. I don't want 10's because I all ready have 12's, 8's will give me better mid bass, which is what I am missing. I would use fiberglass, but I don't have the time to get the materials nor do the actual work. Going to school later this week, and this took all of an hour to rig up.
