Awhile ago, my starter died. I went to Autozone, got a new one, and went to change it out. Well, the new one didn't fit correctly. The housing was to large and hit the EGR. I managed to breath some new life into my old starter and get it working again, but it has died again and I think it's time to replace it. Anyone that has replaced your starter, where did you get it?? Autozone obviously doesn't work. Thanks for any help. Oh yeah, I have to push start my car everywhere until I figure this out. BAH!

I replaced my starter twice. It ended up being that the alternator died so I have an extra starter now. I got my starter from kragen and it fit fine, it was just a ***** to remove the top bolt.

If you want, I can send you pics to see if it looks different from yours. I'm in irvine, so if you are in socal you can see it for yourself as well.

That would be awesome. send some pics over to [email protected]. I'm in Claremont and I go down to Tustin/Irvine damn near every night.

When I got the one from Autozone and it didn't fit, I went to another Autozone as well to see if they had one that was different but it was exactly the same thing. When comparing it with the stock one, it was obvious what the difference was too, there is a spot on the housing that on the stock one cuts back about 1/4" but on the Autozone one, it was rounded out and that's the spot that hit. Everything else fit just fine.

Get that starter rebuilt, it costs less and if you bought one from a parts store, most likely its rebuilt anyway. Why not cut out the middle man?
