S14 SR20DET, Who should I Buy From?

Well, I been saving up to get the Stage II S14 SR20DET from XAT Racing, and all was going to go well, up until i heard from a close friend that they really ****ed up his friends car, something about wiring and now the car wont shut off. They blamed it on the ECU but a friend put his SR ecu on the other car and it still didnt work right... so unless i hear from XAT's view i am not bringing my business there.. and thats a $7,000 loss on their end.

with that said, where would you suggest for me to buy a s14 sr20det clip? i was really looking foward to going to xat, but i am not willing to risk 7grand of my hard earned money on something in which might not be done right.

I think I'm going through Heavy Throttle next spring. They are arout 1.5 hours from my house so I can just drive down there with a truck and pick it up......maybe get a deal.

I've only heard great things about Heavy Throttle.

i was planning on using a sponsor if i do order off the net.. but im lookin for feedback, im not lookin to get scammed. not saying any current sponsors are scams, just that it has happen in the past and im not willing to lose the money. so if you have ordered a motor from one of them, which one was it?

I think if we knew of any of the sponsors scaming people they wouldnt sponser NICO any more.

You really need to give Jarco Inc. in Georgia a call. They are great guys and have really great prices on motors. The web address is http://www.jarcoinc.com. Plus it's not to far away. Florida to GA. So I would definetly give them a call.Josh

That is weird about the car not shutting off. Xat did my swap, and I do not have any problems with it. Just couple little things that I did not like about them, like cracking my coolant overflow bottle (I know it is a problem on all S13,) and putting ducttape over the hole to fix it. But other than that they were good guys that do good work, from my experience.

I have never heard anything bad about phase 2 or heavy throttle's jobs. Unfortunately I don't know enough about XAT to comment as I have been to busy to browse the boards lately. Jarco definetly sells quality stuff as does Chip from Cardinal Performance. I don't believe either of them sell upgrade packages though. I personally bought my clip from Chip and it has been great. Everything I saw that he had in his warehouse was very clean and in good shape.

Actually we acquired Martin from Z-Fever . Taylor went on to do his own thing. We wish him the best of luck and still consider him a friend of the shop.
