anyone care to elaborate? like how much can 4000 get me, or whats the lowest I can expect to pay to everything coming from a reputable engine dealer (phase2,HT). I've done the search but all I came up with were prices on s13 swaps and one post on a s13 into a s14

thanks again

I have the S14 SR into a 96 chasis. Should be virtually the same since they both use OBDII. What performance goals are you trying to get? $4000 will be cutting it very close. You'll have a very stock setup at best. But if you put together you components wisely and do the work yourself or factor that cost in somewhere else, you might be able to make out ok.

you should just get a redtop.... they have a better head design... no vtc, but they only designed that to make up for what they took out of the head..... it may cost like $100 more for the wiring, (if you're not gonna do it yourself) but you'll save AT LEAST enough money for a fmic or exhaust or maybe both....

Man that all depends on how far you want to take it. 400rwhp and it doesn't matter which one you start off with. If you want a stock setup, then the s14 with VTC is noticeably better. There's a toss up somewhere in the middle. I went with the S14 because I wanted no compromises. I wanted the reliability, the power, and everything that was on the car before. I have PS, A/C, reverse lights that work, and even cruise control! They even installed a toggle switch so that I can disable the speed cut.

sorry, but i would rather be on the lower end of the 'toss up' with enough money for a fmic, exhaust (even if it's cheap) and good oil.... i took out ac by my own will, and the base model which is what you should look for if you're just building a car (less dumb problems) doesn't have cruise, and when would you ever need to engage the speed limiter (valet, or dr/mr scenario?)

No need to apologize. Whatever you want on your car is what you should get. Everyone has different ideas of what they want their car to be when they are finished with it. I mentioned earlier in another post that I wanted all of the creature comforts still intact on my vehicle. I didn't start with a base model and I didn't want to regress to one. The s14 sr was only a few hundred bucks more than the redtop, so I was able to afford the fmic, boost controller, exhaust, etc.

I see you live in Orlando...and you took your A/C off. That must mean you're building, or have already built a serious race car. As long as you have what you want, enjoy it and more power to you.

Moving to Colorado? What's the reason for that? I'm gonna try to stay in Tampa as long as I can...unless I go to Miami.
