s14 sr20det problems

hi everyone. i just got my s14 back and swapped an s14 sr20det iinto it. it idles at 2600 rpms and when it hits 3200 rpms or you floor it, the car just spits and spats unit about 5500 rpms when it takes off like a bat outa hell. it is also running a little rich.i am thinking this is a MAF sensor??? any help would be greatly appreciated.also will a 97 300zx twin turbo maf fit this car if thats the problem?

no you cant just put any maf on there and hope for it to work. You need a s14 sr20det maf or you can use the 300zx one but you need a retune or a safc to change the in and out settings for the maf.

Sounds like timing to me.

is it running rich like, "I can smell it", or running rich like, "dayum thats a lot of black smoke coming out of my tail pipe."?

check your wiring and make sure everything is connected well around your throttle body, maf and all the piping included in between.

timing was checked after motor was installed and everything was fine. its running rich as in u can smell it a little and there is a bit but not tones of black smoke coming out of it. checked all wiring around the maf and its working a bit better but no wheres near good.

it is probably your ecu. i had the same exact problem. check your ecu if the light is lit when the engine is running then its bad.

unplug your maf and if the car runs any worse then you know its not the maf sensor
