hey guys ive noticed a few weeks ago that motor hasnt been running the same way it did. My car used to rev to like 7500 while driving, now it feels like a fuel cut at 5500ish and sometimes lower in all gears. also i noticed that im not achieving a full 7 psi of boost either. anyone might know whats going on? its a stock s14 sr20det with no tune. just a stupid safc.

hey thanks for the response fast s13. im leaning more towards the boost leak. While im driving down a road that has buildings and what not i notice that the car hisses like a dump truck would which sounds cool but i think im getting a leak somewhere. Also someone told me it could be my turbo actuator not closing all the way so i can get a full 7 pounds of boost.

as long as you have the factory boost sensor hooked up it will run 12 psi

i dont have the boost sensor but if i was to put a boost controler on it and set it for 12psi that would be the same as stock. and wouldnt need a tune correct?

your boost should be 7psi on a stock s14 black top.

Oh man this rumor again. 7psi is the factory boost level, even with a properly working boost solenoid. However, if you replace one of the lines on the boost solenoid that contains a restrictor then it'll bump your boost up. The Aussies do this all the time as sort of a cheap boost increase.

Most people don't get a boost solenoid included with their motorset and most others that do replace the lines with their own, which of course makes your peak boost higher. I actually tried this on my S13 blacktop prior to my AVCR. I was getting 7~8psi with factory boost solenoid lines, once removed it was bumped up to 10~11psi.

thought 7psi was right. solenoid came with my motor set but no lines. Guess i can expect a slight bump in boost once i get everything hooked up and running stock. I keep seeing that rumor over and over also. annoying when people write this sh*t and give advice to other people when they are wrong. gonna give someone who just spent over 2k on a motor set a stroke with misinformation.
