How can I tell what year notchtop I have? I recently went from a ka-t to the sr world and I'm starting all over knowledge wise.

ALSO

What ecu for each engine?

I have read different things thru searching on here.

One way you can get a vague idea of the year is by looking at the stamps on the coilpacks. These will show the year and month the coilpacks were made and thus generally what year the engine was made.

Another way is to know the VIN number, I can get the year and month by the VIN number off of a front clip.

There are 3 versions of the S14 SR . The there are 3 ECU/wiring harness changes. The first two ECU's came during the 1993-1996 S14. The last change came during the 1997-1998 model change. The wiring harness was changed and the 1997-1998 ECU is incompatable with the 1993-1996 wiring harness.

Anyway here is what the ECU's for the S14 are

Great reply, but it still doesn't help. The wire harness that came with the motorset has this stamped on it 24011 65F06 Can you tell me just from that what ecu I need. I already ordered a WC red for this engine. I have looked at the WC Pinouts and all the wires match up color location wise. As for the actual plug to the ecu I haven't confirmed this. I will have the ecu by wednesday and see if it plugs in.

Also on the coil packs I didn't find a date, but rather a number.

22448 50F01 hopefully that helps.

That wire harness came off of an October 1993-May 1995 MT S14. This means you need a red WC ECU.

To get the date off of the coilpacks look at the tip area closer to where the spark plug connects. You will see numbers and dots next to them. The numbers are either 95 or 5, etc. So for example if the numbers 3 and 4 have 12 dots next to them that means they were in the factory and got stamped 12 times, once each month. Then if the 5 has only 4 dots next to it it means the the year the coilpack left the factory what April 1995. 4 meaning April, 5 meaning 1995.

It would help if you gave me the right part number, there is no 34011-80F06. There is a 24011-80F06 which is the inner engine harness for a June 1996- Dec 1998 S14 SR20DET MT.
