i first started the build tearing it apart to inspect internals and possible damages. the block and internals appeared new so that was the deciding factor, lets turbo this thing!
replacing all the bearings with acl race bearings, micro polishing ,knife edging, and balancing the crank. the rods were set side by side to a s13 det and no differences were found aside the n/a had slightly bigger oiling guides?? so im still using the factory ones, same as the pistonsno damage was found and had slightly bigger oillers, cleaned them off very meticulously and pollished them. interesting seeing a flat top piston though in a fr sr. replaced the rings with naprac set from rhd japan. honed and knifed the cylinder walls and fire rings. when i was putting them back in someone noted there wasnt any piston squirters..
all rotating assemblies received arp 200k bolts for the rods and mains.
the head then was checked for warpage and thankfully still perfect! machined the surface smooth and a 3 angle valve plenum job was done, port matched and smoothed the inlets and outlets. replaced the valve guides with tomei brass guides and still using factory valves after thorough cleaning. the springs and seats are bc titanium with new oem nissan stem seals.as for the cams i decided to keep the vtc intake and go with an hks step1 10.5mm lift exhaust. and tomei rocker arm stoppers. im also using a stock oem head gasket with arp head studs.
i replaced the oil pump with a n14 gtir oil pump internals and ring sleeve.
all new seals were needed via nissan oem.
still utalizing the stock intake manifold with the 10mm bigger na throttle body and idle down valve...it negates the atmospheric surge from open air bovs. not intentionally but it does.
the stock s13 turbo mani has been used but has been port matched and the devider has been shaved to a v..brazillian style
stock 376cc injectors with a tomei fpr and stock det maf will be controlled and monitored by an apexi safc neo, no point in full management since ill only be running 10psi and wont be able to max the injectors or maf. 10 psi on a high comp motor would be the same as 18-20 on a normal det. stock s13 sr turbo with oil lines feeding from a sandwich plate using -3 an line and return is going to a tapped hole that was nicely enough provided in the casting of the block...hmm.
i dont intend on using coolant lines as a sard 18 row oil cooler was implemented to decrease engine temps along side a griffin 3 core radiator with 2 12 inch spal fans LOUD!! and a powered by max coolant air separator surge tank.
nismo motor and transmission mounts, nismo super copper mix step 2 clutch and preassure plate with a toda 12lbs flywheel.
im not expecting by now everyone has the same thoughts that" why not start with a det engine" well, at that point id be like everyone else but with a mildly built det. the higher compression will completly devoid the car of lag and with the cvt and cam set up will keep the boost pumping till well after 6k which for my purpose of drifting and power band needs, i will always have power and have the effect of balance.i wanted to make around 280 which doesnt seem like much but in a well balanced car can be devastating on track or when on the street with a screamer pipe in the mix to scare the s*** out of v8's.
the suspension has also been fully messaged to perfection with kazama front tension rods, rear rucas, tie rods, wicked tunning inner and outter tie rods, powered by max subframe bushings and soon to be all front rear powerbymax due to the geometry change ability there suspension offers...free advert.lol its damn good stuff though and only ones on the market with the capability.not sayin!..just sayin.also just purchased an hks underdrive pulley set..need some sorta bling i guess.
the brakes have yet to be upgraded, but stock r33 calipers and brembo rotors seem to be best bang for the buck.
a moderate sized fmic is currently being used until...yet again a powerbymax hmic can be purchased..or fabbed.meh.
but all in all i think it will be pretty nice and i should have the engine in the car in roughly 2 weeks...waiting on return elbow for the turbo.
then tunning shall commence and retarded the shiz out the timming, still using the distributor and cap style ignition as well, not anywere nere as much em noise at higher rpm voltage.
its reallt gunna freak some one out that knows what there looking at cause they'll be like
