its a 96 5spd with an s14 blacktop in it. the person i bought it off of said he over reved the car. he got the car home and took off the valve cover and saw that it split the rockers apart/out, and now cylinders 1 and 4 have low compression (36ish and 79ish respectivly, cylinders 2 and 4 have 168ish and 171ish respectivly)

im bringing the car home saturday, valve cover is already off.

i was attempting a search and only came up with one post that said something about the rocker's getting split is a saftey feature of nissans, but it doesnt say much past that.

im assuming i have to completly rebuild the head, and im at a loss as to what could be wrong with the lower end and surprised i cant find much searching.

any help would be great, and im going to currently be searching for more info and parts

ok found some different word phrases to use for searching.

i definetly have to take the head off to at the least, but one question. if he over rev'd it and the rocker arm snapped would that possibly leave cylinder's 1 and 4 valves stuck out, therefore the piston hitting them and 2ndly having bad compression in those cylinders?

Sounds like you have tweaked the valves a bit.

You should atleast take off the head and rebuild that. Drop it off at a machine shop and have them inspect it for damage. Inspect the pistons and cylinder walls for possible damage. On and engine like this I would also pop off the mains and take a look at the bearings if everything else checks out.

Look at it this way. You know the head is atleast damaged, why not check out the rest of the engine while you have it apart? Fix it right the first time. It's a huge pain in the a** to fix something then have to disassemble bc you have to fix something else.

i agree with both of you, i know without looking that theres some bent valves, and yes dizzle i planned on looking at the pistons, walls, and bearings. just wondering if theres anything else i should consider while its apart. i know nothing of these sr engines. dont bother replying on this, on saturday evening or maybe sunday ill post something with pics to go with it, hopefully ill get the head off this weekend so i can post pics of that as well.
