I just got the S14 SR motor in and started up. An idle problem seems to be a bad MAF, so I just ordered a Z32 MAF, wire harness and a Greddy Airinx filter. Can the stock ECU control this or will I need to get a tune or an AFC?

I know this is a NEWB ? but I'm just getting started with this stuff so any help is appreciated and be gentle with the flames.

Thanks guys.

Brandon

You need a AFC to control it. Or an ECU tuned for it.

I've got an S14 SR MAF - I'll trade for your Z32 MAF for mine + a little bit of cash. Email me at [email protected] if you're interested. My ECU is tuned for the Z32 but is running with a S14 MAF so... it's a bit rich.

I'll probably just keep the Z32 MAF for future upgrades, but I'm interested in buying your stock S14 SR MAF. How much would you need for it shipped to Mississippi?

Just trade him the MAF. Z32 MAF'S are a dime a dozen... I mean ****, each car has 2... and it doesn't matter if its an NA or TT both the same...

Seriously thanks for the offer dude, but I already ordered an S14 SR MAF. I'm just gonna keep the Z32 MAF for future upgrading. I gotta get this issue resolved ASAP.

Thanks guys

Cool - let us know if this solves the problem. Where did you order your Z32 MAF from by the way? And how much did it run you?

I bought them on ebay. The guy selling the Z32 claimed to have had it tested before the sale. I paid $159 for this one. He had 1400+ selling history and 100% positive feedback, so I felt good about buying from him. I'll keep you guys posted.

As for the S14 MAF, again I went with ebay. This guy was selling one with a complete factory airbox and duct from a '96 Silvia front clip. Since I won't need the airbox portion, I'll probably just sell it here or post it back on ebay. I paid $100 for this one plus $20 to ship.

I usually don't do the ebay thing at all, but it seemed ligit enough.

ThanksBrandon

Installed the S14 MAF, but it did not solve my problem. Seems like the engine is loading up at idle. Its ok at a higher rpm, but it idles like crap.
