I was thinking, I wonder how better off I'd be with just stock skyline subframe parts insteed of mckinny mounts.

What year skyline should I be looking at for sub frame parts? I also want skyline rear subframe.

im pretty sure you must use mckinney mounts for the rb26

and why bother with the rear one? you would have to change out everything attached to it too.

I have been told by drifters that the S15 rear subframe is better. I assume it is stiffer in some way. A freind swapped one into his Cefiro.

I know a few shops using RB20 Front Cross Members. They have to modify the shifter and shorten the height of the mounts.

Madscientist - You would know these guys as S-Tec and Wing Auto.

sounds like I should stick with mckinny mounts....

s15 rear.... I wonder how much...

I would stick with s14 rear but I'm not sure how beefy it is, how long it would stand up with 550+ rb26 power.

you can stick with the s14 rear subframe, put in VLSD and shimmed it...you should get the effect close to 1.5way lsd.

Might want to consider axle replacement and how much more difficult it will be if you go with JDM parts. I would swap out the JDM differential output shafts to match those of the stock 240 in case you break them, which is entirely possible and probable.

As far as the rear subframe, for 500-600 hp new solid bushings in the S14 should be sufficient.

if your not too concerned with drivetrain noise, i went with the SPL billet subframe bushings...tightened the hell out of the entire car...no more swishy swaying crap...very satisfied with mine now

I have heard from people who have installed the urethane bushings that they have helped prevent wheel hop, which tends to be a problem with high power S-chassis cars. I only imagine that the solid bushings would be even better in that respect. I'm going to put a set on my christmas list so I can install them over the long, boring winter. cdorhout can come over and help me

Shimming a differential is a little different topic than subframe bushing installation. Mostly that it is way more precise. I would research shimming an LSD installation before asking anyone about it. You can't just take a LSD and slap it into some differential housing without making sure of the tolerances around it.

Carl H - you mean that you don't get any wheel hop or wheel spin? I would hope you get wheel spin or you aren't pushing enough horsepower I'm trying to bribe my investment-contientious mom into buying me car parts for this x-mas and I think solid bushings would be the only parts within her price range. Hopefully, project get-Matt's-Mom-to-buy-him-bushings works as planned.
