Hi folks. I can't get the seat belt to unroll from my S14 manual seat belt unit. It 'jams', like when you pull really hard(ie in an accident). If I pull just slightly, back off, then pull slightly again, I can ever so slowly get the belt to come out. However it would take me like 100+ times of doing this to get it all the way out. The belt retracts just fine. FWIW, I am pulling directly upward on the belt, the way it intended to be mounted.

I just bought this and don't want to put it in my S13 if it isn't working. The end cover on the unit says 'do not remove', so I'm leary of taking it apart(like taking a retractable tape measure apart. ). Any ideas on what could be wrong and how to go about fixing it?

Oh and apparently the *auto* seatbelts are covered with a lifetime factory warranty: this doesn't apply to manual belts also does it?

Thanks greatly.-Jamie

Oh, that's sweet! Luckily I don't seem to have to. I don't know what I did, but I got it to work. I just sorta shook it around. Bolted it in and it doesn't hang up at all. Go figure.

While I'm at it, I can't figure out what size bolts are used to mount the upper seatbelt 'hinge'. It's *definately* a 1.25pitch, but 12mm won't thread in. My 10mm ties won't even begin to fit over the bolt...

For now I just left that rear pillar cover off.

Thx Chris,-Jamie

The reason the belt wouldnt extend is there is a hanging weight in it. when that weight moves to any poisiton other then a perfect mount position it will not allow the belt to pull out. It is intended to lock the belt in any high force movement in any direction. The reason it went away when you installed is because the mount is the perfect hanging position for the weight. Most nissan seat belts use a 12x 1.25 bolt to hold them in. maybe you got a little gumming in the threads of the body nut. Also are you sure the fiber washer that holds the washers on the bolt isnt preventing it from turning?
