Okay, so I am getting ready to do my 5sp swap in my 96 SE. I have all the parts here or on order except for the rubber boots that cover the shifter which I will pick up soon.

I currently have the motor and trans out of the car. I want to get the wiring straight before it goes in. I bought a manual transmission harness to make the wiring easier. Everyone says it will plug right in, but it definitely doesn't appear that way...

***IF ANYONE NEEDS PICTURES OR DIAGRAMS TELL ME***FSM Page EL-223 shows the transmission harness.FSM Pages EL-220 - 221 show the engine room harness.

What is present in my auto engine bay:E12, E13, E14, E15 are all present. I assume these remain unhooked as they are all AT related. E19, which is present for both MT and AT has 4 wires. E16 which is AT only, has 2 wires. E18 is nowhere to be found. I suspect it may be a ground wire?

On my manual harness:E205 and E207 are shown as present in the FSM, but I have only 1 of those ring terminals... E203 which plugs into E19 from above has 7 wires. E201 which plugs into E17(not present in my auto) has 3 wires. E204 plugs into the missing E18 from above and has 1 wire.

My guess is that E201 (MT 3 wires) should get spliced to E16 (AT 2 wires), but I'm guessing, and wouldn't know which 2 to splice and what to do with the 3rd. What is the deal with E203 to E19? What are the extra 3 wires that are not getting connected? And where/what is E18? Do I just connect E204 -which is 1 wire- to ground? What else could 1 wire be doing(I know knock sensor is 1 wire...)?

HELP!

assuming that you are using a manual trans engine harness, auto ECM and associated ECM harness-

the following info is taken from JDS Performance 5 Speed Swap DVD and http://www.ka24development.com....html:

- cut (2) E15 (revolution sensor) wires and jumper together in order for car to start.

- connect E13 (inhibitor switch) wires (either green and black or green and green with black stripe) to reverse lamp switch wires on manual transmission (E213). apparently it does not matter which wires are connected together since this process only completes the reverse lamp circuit.

- properly disconnect ECM wiring harness and ECM wire bundle cover. locate neutral position switch wire on ECM wire bundle (should be pin #22) and mark. drill a hole in front of the shifter opening to run wires from transmission to ECM. use a rubber grommet or sleeve to protect wires. run (1) green and (1) black wire from transmission to ECM. connect green wire from ECM to green/orange wire on switch harness and repeat process for black wire. plug switch into m/t switch harness. cut earlier marked wire on ECM wire bundle and connect to green wire from m/t transmission harness. connect black wire to body ground connector behind ECM using a ring connector.

- do not connect 5th position switch to auto ECM as the associated pin # on the auto ECM is the OBD port connection (follow directions on ka24development.com if you would like to be able to connect a m/t ECM at a later date).

- disconnect the blue ASCD brake cancel switch and cut the green/black on the brake cancel switch and connect to clutch cancel switch as described on ka24development.com link.

see ka24development.com or buy JDS Performance 5 Speed Swap DVD for further clarification.

i know that i could have just posted the link, but i have to do this myself very soon and am trying to work through everything in my head before the fact. hopefully this is helpful, but like i said, please refer to JDS Performance 5 Speed Swap DVD or ka24development.com in case i missed anything. good luck, and let me know how it turns out.

The whole neutral switch wiring to the ecu is confusing me.. can someone clarify this for me?

They say connect the green wire from the switch to the black wire on the ecm? there is no black wire on the ecu....

" run (1) green and (1) black wire from transmission to ECM. connect green wire from ECM to green/orange wire on switch harness and repeat process for black wire" Where is this green wire on the ecm, and where is this black wire on the ecm...
