OK, for some reason, i can't find any S13's for sale here, on Guam, but I can however find a few S14's, but they are 7k or over, and yeah, i would choose the s13 any day because of its inexpensiveness... i'd like to know what disadvantages the s14 has under the s13 in racing terms.

There isn't any besides weight, and that's only a minor ordeal.

S13 is lighter by about 300lbs. Drivetrain and suspension are virtually the same. And the S13 coupe is stiifer than the hatch, so I'd choose the coupe for roadracing and the hatch for drag. I would guess the S14 is stiffer than both S13's.

yeah the S14 is stiffer than both s13's and is 50-450 lbs heavier depending on options and what s13 your comparing it to.

If you going to get s14, get SE model. It much stiffer than s13 or even s14 plane.

Geez, wrong again. The only thing an SE has is 5-lugs, MAYBE a VLSD, and the 16inch alloys. Suspension compnents are exactly the same as the base model, same part numbers for shocks, springs, sways, etc. Albeit some might come WITHOUT sways, but some base models do. There is no "upgraded suspension" package you get with an S14 SE. Please do not post misinformation again, leave it up to those of us who know what we are doing.

well since the s14 is newer, it should last you longer (usually), but what are you looking for, a project car? daily driver? etc.

well considering the S13 is not "beter" than the S14, its opinion on what is "better" now IMHO the S13 looks better but is not necessarily better

That's what car & driver posted on their 240 test drive about SE model:We tested the high-end, sporty SE model, which comes with numerous standard-feature amenities that include a sport-tuned suspension, front and rear spoilers, projector-style foglights, driver-adjustable lumbar support, moquette fabric seats with a sporty center insert, remote keyless entry with an anti-theft system, and attractive analog gauges with black digits on a white background. This is a link:http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/k...240SX

i have heard the sport suspension thing myself, my freind has a 97 SE and he told me this; but it doesnt make the chassie any more stiff because all s14's are structurally identicle. :)

The suspension in S14 se is slighly stiffer than base model S14. I own an S14 se and i have test-driven numberous base S14 before i bought my car. But as far as chasis stiffness, SE is stiffer because it comes with a factory sway bar while the base S14s dont. The only problem with S14 SE tho is that it feels a lot heavier than base s14 because of all the options.

hahha sorry for going off topic...i know we are talkin about s13 vs s14....I read this article from i forgot where that s13 is not as stiff as s14. ANd that stock S14 supposedly handles a a little better than stock S13...I could be wrong on that tho cuz i have never driven an S13.

The only appreciable upgrade is that rear sway bar. That's it. It's enough for Nissan to use the phrase "sport tuned suspension", but not NEAR enough to say anyone should buy an SE for that reason. You can grab that rear sway from Nissan or a junkyard for sub-$200 and it'll bolt right up. And cmon, "front and rear spoilers" are sure not going to affect a danged thing at the speeds you will most likely be driving it. Part numbers for every other suspension component are identical between SEs and base models, and as previously stated, both cars are structurally identical. Just look for any S14 if you want one, don't let the fact that it's not an SE sway you for suspension reasons; 15 minutes and less than $200 will put your S14 base at the S14 SE suspension level. However, I would try to save yourself some headache with the whole 5-lug thing, I would love to have wheels that I could fit Z32 brakes under at the moment...........

I went for the S14 because I liked the looks more and It feels more refined than the S13. Also, S13 seats really do suck. But If you do get an S13, go coupe! We don't need no stinkin hatches

It's about time someone regulated. I did so all last summer, then quit for a year. It's time to lay the smack down again.
