I"ve got an s14 w/ an auto to manual swap done, but using an s13 transmission. My speedo and odo are showing double so I bought an s14 manual speed sensor. Got it today and saw that the connector is different, the s13 one looks like the wire is hardwired to the sensor. so if I cut it, Ill have nothing to connect it to on the s14 sensor. is my only option getting a whole new s14 trans harness or is there a way to make it work with what I've got? also, if I could get ahold of only the auto s14 trans harness, is the connector the same? could I just cut the connector off and use it w/ the manual sensor? any help would much appreciated

check the plug further up the transmission harness. it should NOT be hardwired.

I had the same issue (s14 transmission with s13 sensor), I just cut the wire, soldered, double heat shrinked, taped and loomed and retaped the new s14 speed sensor, and it works like a charm. I don't see why you would get a new harness, just cut and solder away. I believe the speed sensor is sending square waves anyways, so it's not a resistive circuit.
