So here in SD we don't get much rain...ever...so the roads arn't build to handle any amounts of rain. I was crusin back home from my gf's house tonight on the "backroad" i think it's Black Mtn Road...or the 56. So anyways i'm cruisin and i see the car off in the distance (comin my way) kinda bounce and then the huge splashes of water comin off of each side of the car. The car happened to be a newer(4 headlight) Benz, and water was going over the hood :jawdrop: So i slam on my breaks and stop before reaching the 1.5' deep 20-30' long stretch of road under water. Now there was a foxbody stang behind me honking so i just said screw it and went for it. Yes yes very very stupid. I got the whole water coming over hood action, then it happened. Joe Jeep Cherokee haulin balls hits the water goin the opposite way causeing major waves in the water. All of a sudden my car's front end is bouncing and my car turns mbe 30 degree's toward the shoulder of the road. So i finally got out of the water hole and now i can't figure out for the life of my why my car didn't hydrolock. I have one of those injen cold air intake w/ a k&n cone filter on the end of it. The filter sits a lil lower than the headlights, so i can't figure out why water didn't get up in there.

Anywhoo thought it would be interesting to note that s14's float.

i would imagine that virtually any coupe or sedan would float in the same circumstances. . . having the force of THAT much water pushing against a car is easily enough to get a car moving. . .not to mention that it only takes something like 0.5 inches of water to actually get your car to lose traction. . .

as for how u managed to avoid hydrolock? your guess is as good as mine. . .

k. . .i'll shut up now
