Hi guys. So i've been using stance gr+ for 2 months and hate them. Low speed damping (weight transition speed) is reasonable but high speed is horrible - feels like my car's breaking apart over bumps. I'm planning to go with Koni yellows next. My question is about spring choice.

I have 6kg/5kg or 5kg/4kg in mind for the setup as my s14 remains mostly a street car w/ autocross fun (extra roll stiffness will be handled by swaybar). I also want the drop to be around 1", no more than 1.5". I thought about going with Ground Control, but being a street car doesn't justify spending money on height & corner weight adjustability.

The RSR race springs (5kg/4.2kg, drop 1.4"/1") seem like what I'm looking for. These are progressive, at least in the front AFAIK. I prefer linear springs, but progressive will do fine as long as the suspension travel's OK. I've heard comments about how the front RSR springs compress too much, leaving only about 1" of travel before bumpstop.

How's your experience with these springs in terms of ground clearance and suspension travel? The stock limited front travel is simply disturbing. And how much did these springs actually drop your car? Again, I'm really conservative about ride height (drop 1"-1.5" only).

Long post. Thanks for your input.

I <3 RSR race springs + koni damper set up.

Its such a nice yet firm feel...

here's my friend's old s13 with the same set up. The drop is very subtle (if any as you can see lol), but the feel is just lovely.

it was daily driven, and compared to my coilovers with a 7/5 kg setup, his were obviously more bearable and enjoyable.

He hasn't done any autox with them, but ironically he did one drift day event... After that day, we both determined they definitely weren't stiff enough for drifting lol.

you'll love it man, esp because you don't care too much for ride height.

Thanks, I've heard a lot of good things about the race springs. I'd like to learn about how much suspension travel is compromised up front though. No doubt the progressive rate helps the ride quality

Let me start off by saying I have no experience with the rsr springs...

But I mean if your looking for a specific suspension feel, I mean you seriously can't go wrong with the koni/ground control setup. If you do a couple searches you can narrow down the spring rates your interested in. Then give GC a call and they will help you with your final decision.

I mean forget the fact they are height adjustable (which by the way isn't much anyway)... you can customize your spring rates to your desire, which I believe makes them worth it in the end. Also, you can choose spring length which depending on what you end up with, won't have to worry about bump stops.

I'm sure rsr/koni setup will work, but I'm just expressing my view on it. Either way, you can't go wrong I guess, the rsr setup will be cheaper and thats always good. Good luck.

I'll keep GC in mind - it's one of the most customizable combo out there.

definately recommend RSR's

they are firm but not overbearing; perfect for a daily car.

i currently am running them with koni yellows and have had nothing but great feel and amazing performance from this combo.

dont let all the coilover fanboys get to you, imho springs drop better for s14s compared to s13s but you wont be disappointed with it....

and some pics of my s13 w koni/RSRs

edit i think GC are a bit overkill if its not a track car and make sure you give some time to adjust the rears for how firm you want them... you have to remove the entire assembly to change the dampening on the rear konis

unfortunately even that drop is too much for the given rsr spring rates. I did some more research on suspension geometry and decided to go with GC to keep the ride height near stock. The smaller wheel-fender gaps don't justify greater roll tendency and hitting bumpstops. Besides, if I want to drop the height later it'll be cake with the GC hardware. Thanks guys.

Awesome choice... you won't regret it. Good luck with everything.

And you'll be in the like 5% on here with a real suspension setup thats actually thought out.
