So, I just picked up a S14 ABS VLSD. I'm guessing that there is a physical difference between the outside housing and the s13's(no matter if it's ABS or Non-ABS). I was wondering what kind of bushings I needed for the S14 differential. I noticed that the holes were quite big.

When I picked up the VLSD there was no bushing in there. So, I was wondering if I could just reuse the one's currently on my s13 that are on my open diff?

Thanks.

Does no one know what part number for these bushing holes I need to make this s14 VLSD fit in my S13??? As is, the bolts that are on my open diff are smaller than the holes for the s14 VLSD.

Here's a picture of the S14 VLSD:

swap the guts, it wont bolt right on because its an abs casing...your std s13 driveshaft will be too long and the bushings will allow for flex in the s13 which has a solid mount diff.

Damn I wish I knew that before I bought the diff. I already bought the driveshaft from a junkyard. I bought an s14 automatick ABS driveshaft. I knew that my current one would be too long. I know that the s14 automatic ABS driveshaft one will do. But I hear that it could've been from an manual ABS one too because only the back portion matters.

So, you're saying theres no way to make the S14 VLSD mount up to the subframe of the S13? If you say I should swap guts then I wont' need the driveshaft I already bought!!!

I made a all for broke effort into deciding to get VLSD this summer. I decided to have z32 calipers upgrade on hold(even though I already have them in my possesion) because i thought it would cost too much to get rotors , brake lines and rims. Now, I might have shot myself in foot by deciding to go with this combinations of VLSD/driveshaft from S14 because it's looking bad now. I did research too.

I only bought the vlsd because it was $90. And the driveshaft I found for $135.

You will need the bushings for the S14 differential, to make it work.I can tell you from my experience that it will work, you need the bushings, and swap the diff cover as you can see the S14 diff has 2 bolts and the s13 has 4.Other then that, an non ABS Driveshaft will work to, with the ABS diff..I've done this on both my 93 chuki and 98 kouki.. Both are manual transmission and non abs..I am running 95 Infinity J30 LSDS on both of them.

so I take it you have a ABS J30 VLSD? Is the J30 VLSD the exact same as an S14 VLSD though???

I can cut my losses right now by swapping pumpkins. Due to the various variations between your setup and mine....I'm beginning to have doubts. YOu have a non-ABS driveshaft with your setup? I have a automatic ABS driveshaftI don't think what you said about using a non-abs driveshaft is correct!!!! I talked to many people about that....and they all come to same consensus. I guess you probably have a Non-ABS J30 diff because you said you have a non-abs driveshaft.

I wonder if I should just swap pumpkins instead. I can sell the driveshaft to someone on these forums. Plus if I go with the S14 Diff housing then I have to order bushings(which i hear costs around $100). ****!!! This is all suddenly adding up.

So, remember that I bought a s14 Abs driveshaft to make this VLSD work in my s13. It was being shipped this whole time. But yesterday when it was classified as delivered, I didn't actually get it.

The shipping company said that they left it in my gateway. I was at home that the computer tracking said it was delivered to my house. I didn't hear no truck during the time they said it was delivered. I choose no signature. They said that the driver left it in my gateway. I didn't notice a 4 foot long box that weighs 20lbs. Haha

Whatever this all sucks. I made a claim.

So what do you need to make it work on an s14 ?

I just got a rear diff. and the holes are huge compared to my last one.

Im thinking my new diff is an VLSD from a 240 or J30.

I had no idea, this thread was still going on .. Anyways to sum it up for you, i am running with ABS LSDS on NON ABS driveshafts..

The S14 LSD measures the same as the J30 LSD which is installed on my chucki.. So why would you need an s14 driveshaft? The only way to tell for sure thg is to get ur *** under that car and try to swap it up..Is not hard, just get the bushings and swap the diff covers. Then take it from there..

I finally got my driveshaft. I went searching around my neighborhood for it and found it. Stupid shipping guy shipped it to wrong house. It's funny because I went to 20 houses over the course of 1.5 weeks. I went after work everyday.

Anyways, I don't want to chance it and try and use my current driveshaft. besides I already bought the S14 driveshaft so I'm gonna use it. I've been under there all day. I already removed the current driveshaft and diff. All I gotta do is swap covers and seal it up and put it in.
