I'm trying to replace the rear pads on my S14, but the real caliper will not back out with a c-clamp. I know some cars require the caliper to be turned in order to back it out which makes me wonder do I need a specialty tool of sorts. Perhaps something I can get at my local parts store?

get some channel locks and turn them. Don't use a c-clamp on the rear calipers. They do make a specialty tool but channels locks work and really how often do you change your rear pads.

I got a "universal" tool for turning in brake calipers from Sears. I think it was something like $6 and was shaped like a cube with a different pattern of studs on each side of it. It worked much better than channel locks.
I'd imagine you could find something like that at any place that sells a decent array of tools. Can't remember what brand mine was off hand...it wasn't Craftsman.

yea those can be a p.i.t.a. but try some channel locks and see if that will do it. if that dont work you should be able to get the tool from autozone for free with a deposit.
