We're working on a 95 nissan 240sx-s14 with a RB20DET swap...trying to hook up some power steering and need to know what's up. We have a p/s connecting bracket from a S14, an adjusting bracket from a s14, and a RB20det p/s pump (3 ports so I'm guessing hiccas). We've rigged a p/s reservoir and the hard lines are still in place on the chassis...I've found the hard line w/ the banjo nut on the end...and found the line that comes from the lines right at the steering shaft (left hand) and goes to the reservoir. I think we'll at least need the line from pump to res.

My questin is ... I see no easy way to bypass hiccas on this pump (no welding/cutting ability)...can it be done? and if not, will a p/s pump from a SR20DET work w/ the rb?, or will a factory s14 KA p/s pump work w/ the rb? will we need an rb20det p/s mounting bracket, regardless of what pump we use or can any other nissan bracket be made to fit this engine and pump? and will the KA adjusting bracket work w/ any of these pumps/mounting brackets? We tried lining up the rb20det pump w/ the KA mounting bracket and it doesn't look like it will work at all (for one, the hicas part of the pump blocks the hole where the bolt needs to come out for mounting, another... even if we file through this part, it looks like the pump will sit lop-sided in the bracket, not allowing for proper belt installation)...we really want power steering on this thing but are trying not to spend a fortune.

Any help would be appreciated...I've tried searching, no rb20det specific info. If I get a response on this...I may need help finding an rb20det p/s mounting bracket. Georgia-USA

Thanks in advance...cheers.

you can use the stock s14 pump. i used my s13 pump on my swap but i had to modify the bracket that came with the rb motorset. you deninatly cant use the hiccas pump though.

im haveing a hard time with understanding you post but think i got it.

to make your post short, you want power steering in your rb20 s14.

been answered many times, but i have no problem explaining it to you.

keep your stock rb pump/ bracket. take your hicas pump and remove the 4 back bolts and remove the back of the pump. take the little fins out. put together and block off the rear port. (i used AN fittings for this) some said the stock high pressure line works, not for me so i used custom high pressure line, look for the thread on that. the rest of the ps plumbing you should be able to figure out.

yea i had the same problem cuz my rb20 can wit hicas wat i did is i took apart the pump by unbolting the fourbolt that i think r 12mm head in the back took that first piece that comes off the back then you notice there is a metal wheel wit like little metal fins that move in and out on it i removed thos so the only be pressure at the front opening then reassemble the pump wit out thos fins and det a bolt that fits the hicas pressure line which is the last pressure line opening farest from the pully and blocked it off wit a cam bolt from a dual cam that hold on the cam gear to it i think it was that bolt idk check the threading first before you impact in on
