I have an RB20DET and wiring harness that was previously in an S13. I only have a fraction of the KA harness but I've made it work so far. I've had some issues with grounds but they are now taken care of (I think/hope). My next problem is that I can't get power to the CAS. The green/yellow and green/black wires are wired up to the ECU switch power (pin 49 & 59 black/white). I don't know if this is correct but it was like this when I got it. All four of the wires run into a large gray wire that runs all the way to the CAS. I don't know if it's shorting out in that wire or what. Is that suppose to be factory or was it rigged up? That's all I got. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look up the wiring for an s13.. all the wires that are in the engine bay you need to extend them and connect them to the corresponding wire inside the s14 at the f3 plug. Off the top of my head I think all the rb wires in the engine bay were for power to ecu, injectors, ignitor, coils, and fuel pump.

Also can you post pics of the wires you mentioned. I haven't dealt with wiring for a while so I'm a bit rusty.

Quick Update. I found a section in my harness where 3/4 of the wires look like someone took a machete to them. That may be why I can't get power through them.... Don't worry, more questions to come.

For some reason my ecu LED's do not blink at all when I turn the ignition on. The red one just stays on forever and the green does nothing. Anyone know what this means? I've also heard that these engines will not start if the turbo piping is not fully connected. Is this true?

what colour are your valve covers and do you have a factory bypass valve on the 'j' pipe going to the tb?and yes it is hard to start but not impossible if the intake track is not complete.

I have the newer RB20 I believe. It's the silver top. And yes I have that bypass on the J pipe.

weird, sounds like you have a ceffie/laurel ecu and not an r32 ecu.r32 is a single red led, the afformentioned 2 are dual led.

Another way you could determine between a31 and r32 would be the to check the vents on the exhaust valve cover. a31; the vents will make a 90 degree turn instead of 180.

If that is the case, could that still work and would it wire up the same?

its been my experience that the wire harnesses are slightly different and the colours on wires are NOT the same.

The harness seems to definitely be R32 because I havn't found any wires that are different (except I can't find the Injector relay wire) from the pinout I have used. The ECU has a label of 00 on the case. I have turned the knob on it all the way clockwise and the red light will not turn on. Any other position and the light stays on once the switch is on. It seems to me like the ECU is not doing any work because I have power to everything necessary (according to my pinout) but it will not do anything but spin over and over.

I also have my ECU battery power hooked to the car's constant (Red pin 17) but I keep blowing the 7.5 amp fuse. Should I put a fuse link to it with a little bigger fuse?

I was looking over the past replies and I misunderstood you Carl. Mine has a red led ONLY. There is no green. My bad! So I'm guessing I have an R32 ECU.

I fooled around with it more today and I cannot get spark and the fuel injectors won't fire either. I have power to the black/white wire to the cam sensor but nothing on the other 3 wires. I tested the CAS by pulling it out and spinning the shaft with the key on but nothing happened at all. Is there anything else I can try to determine if it is the CAS or if I have a wiring mistake?
