I have a 96 24sx and the other day my window stopped working. I checked the relays, and motor. As far as I can tell they are all good. I had to jump the motor with the 12v battery power to get it up, and it went up with no problems. I checked for power up to the switch and I am getting 12v in both directions on the green and blue wire. I also replaced the switch thinking that was the problem. I am not sure where the power window amps are to check them out. I was told they were in my doors behind the speakers, but I couldnt find them in either door. If anyone could help me fix this problem or tell me what I need to check or where the amps are I would really appreciate the help.

look up window in the tutorial link in my signature. there is article for repairing amp for 95/96 s14. it applies to 91-94 too. it might be in the main window switch but I dont know if that can be accessed.

is there only one amp, and is it in the passenger or drivers side door. I had both door panels off yesterday and didn't see anything like that anywhere in the doors.

Im starting to think that only the 1995 has the window amp. I know 97/98 dont have the amp. I only see 1995 people talking about the amp.

Thanks for all the help. I went back out and did some more trouble shooting. With the car switched on I am getting power all the way up to where the switch plugs into the motor wiring. and through the plug. I don't know if the power is going to the motor or not, but when I run a jumper wire to the plug that the switch plugs into, with everything plugged up. The window will go up and down just fine. I have run out of options and places to look for the problem. I don't have a window amp on my car, but the motor and switch seem to be getting power, just not going up and down like it should. Any more suggestions on this problem

I looked at the electrical diagram for 1996 and the amp is in the switch like 97/98. Are your passenger windows working? the wiring is simple for 96-98. is your amp ground good? test the green and blue wires . one should be ground and one should be 12v+. im guessing you dont have ground, especially if your passenger window doesnt work.

ground is m5 and m57 . black wire.

I have checked all of the wires, and have ground on drivers side at the amp, but there is no ground on the passenger side window switch. I have the 12v on passenger side but no ground. Could that be the problem as well. I am running out of things to do and need help.

Make certain you dont have the passenger window locked. The lock switch on driver switch withholds ground from passenger side when locked. terminal 1(red/white) and 6 (red/black) on passenger switch should have constant ground when lock off. you could splice in ground to these wires if they dont have ground.(your lock wont work anymore). If you have ground coming into passenger switch but not coming out you know it is the switch.
